Hey everybody, first time asking for advice on r2r! I'm soon to be upgrading my standard 75g to a 120 rr and can't decide if one mp40 will work, (hopefully buy a 2nd one eventually) or 2 mp10s to even the flow out? It'll have 2 mag 5 return pumps for flow as well. Any advice? Thanks in advance!

It's a 48"x24" footprint, so the mp 40 will do the whole tank, and it's a little cheaper than 2 mp10s, I'm on a tight budget but don't want to skimp on equipment, thanks!

I have a 55 gallon that is 48" and run 2 mp40s on the ends. Ultimately if I was you I would get 2 mo10's for the back and 2 mp40's for the ends and run them on the smart mode

Mp40's. Or have you thought about the jebao wp40

Haven't thought about the jebao, there aren't any lfs less than 2 hours away so I typically have to order everything, I'll look into them.

I would look into the jebao.I had 2 mp10 and 2 tunze 6045 in a 75 and 1 Jebao wp40 made them look silly.You can order it from fishstreet.com.For the money,you can't beat the Jeabao.Imo the ecotech mp powerhead is overated.For a 120g tank,you will need 2 mp40 imo.2 mp10 will not cut it in a 120.

The wave box looks pretty cool, a little more than I wanted to spend at first, but may save up a few more nickels and go that route

The mp 10's would work fine as far as length goes however glass thickness won't allow them to work. I run 2 mp 40's on mine. There would be dead spots if you only used one. As far as the jeabo goes they don't have the undertow needed ime and aren't nearly as good.

2 mp40s would be ideal, but I don't have almost $1000 to put into it, I can swing one now and maybe another in a few months. Wife needs shoes and baby needs food you know:)

Get the mp40.... You won't be disappointed..... Later down the road you can buy another one if you feel you need to. No reason to buy brand new either. Look at the FS thread here. Plenty of mp's :)

1 mp40 and 1 mp10 would also work on your tank. They are not overrated. I've had 2 mp40s running on a 5 foot tank for over 3 years with no problems. The undertow, spread, reliability and control are just so important to proper water movement in the tank. With that said I haven't tried the wp models. Customer service is also fantastic with Ecotech. Those boys love their jobs. Good luck....!!!

Awesome, I have a buddy that has several tanks with mp40s and mp10s, great products, just expensive. Leaning that way at the moment for sure! If I have two mag 5 return pumps, returning on both sides of the overflow (middle backwall), what's best position for a single mp40, then a second?

ok,let me rephrase. The Mp is over rated for the money they charge.I will agreed that their costumer service is top notch. They are great pumps.

Gotcha, yeah they're pricy for sure, that's why I'm asking so many questions for other options. The jebao are looking better and better. A lot of bang for the buck
