I have a 1" return on my pump and plan on putting a T that reduces down to 3/4" for the refugium.
Just after the 3/4" refugium line, Im thinking about 1/2" manifold for reactors.
Is this too much reducing, should I keep 3/4" for both refugium and manifold?

Might be simpler to keep 3/4" and valve each of the reactor lines. If 1/2" I still recommend a valve on each line to control individual flow rates.

okay, thats kinda what I was thinking. thanks for the input this is my first sump build. (actually first sump!)

Reduce it right at the Device its going to provide water for is best practice. if the pump provides to much water by pass some of it into the sump chamber or do so with a ball valve right above the pump.. I use a mix of both for better control..

The way things are working out, Ill have 1" return with (2x) 3/4 valves (had the ball valves laying around) for refuge and reactor if needed.
Im going to continue 3/4 pvc all the way up and into my tank.
Will having 1" reduced to 3/4 return about half of the run be okay? I read about helping with friction, but I dont want to overwork the pump
gonna be about 2feet of 1" and 6feet of 3/4

Run the 1 inch pips all the up and above the tank. Then use a T-Fitting to reduce it to 3/4 then your valves and into your tank..
