It looks almost like it could be for a table. Nicely done. Love the shapes and caves and such. Nice large tank it is going in. I would love to see it all full of coralline and corals and fish, etc. Nice.

thanks deniseandy - ya itll be in a 3 side viewing 48x24x17&
Been holding back due to not being able to make up my mind with what I wanted to do. I wanted to do all small separate structures but in the end I need a few large pieces in there to tie it all together n for real estate.
Have a hard time between different styles so doing this 1 a tonga overhang bundle and a few upside down boulders and pillars(on the smaller side)

That would make a great table base - next time :-D

you can always add to it later. Need a picture of the sculpture in the tank

Heres the tonga so far. I want to add more creativity to the base with some barnacles n just more built in definition n junk lol but the top is pretty much finished. Should look awesome in the end with an sps top hat

Like that one too.
Every time I make a structure, I end up trying to change it within a year. Cannot make my mind up. I finally settled and accepted defeat when I got my engineer goby. He does a good job of redecorating every so often. :) So, now I just keep adding small tanks to play with structures.

What are you using to bind?

Both designs are excellent....very little touching the ground which allows for very little detritus buildup....I am jealous of both.

Nice work!!!. I'll be doing a structure soon, but I'll be pining and cementing wet live rock. I dont know how that will work being damp for cementing?

Hey thanks all. Im stoked to see it in the tank also. Going into a running system tho so no can do till after they sit in the saltwater tub for a couple weeks - but for sure after that.

I use the E-marco 400 mortar for binding. The 1st structure is actually a couple other structures pieced together. The dark grey portion was actually created by jester6 - I simply utilised it upside down and worked it into my structures. I believe he uses marco rocks in his work but the binding compound looks different than the E-400 so not sure there - will have to hit him up and get the info.
Planned on zip ties and all that jazz but really didnt have any points where I was worried past just using a bit of binding mortar so went that easy direction. I plan on utilizing some JB weld to add a bit of creativity to each structure after it is in and I see better how they fit together - I was getting impatient so just went basic to begin with so I could get them ready to go in the tank. Havent been able to place an acro for close to a year lol due to knowing all exsisting rockwork would be coming out.

Not sure how the final product would be if it had to be done under water or wet?? Adds a bit of difficulty there.

Like that there is a small foot print as well. Very helpful.
Thanks again for the kind comments all.

How do you use the E-marco 400 mortar. Do you spread it on and stick the pieces together? What's the drying time? How dry are the rocks when you glue them together. nice work and thanks for any info.

I utilize small batchs and basically build in sections. Say start by building up a leg. Will generally get and idea of what im looking for - make a few smaller pieces and than work it together. Some I take and stick into the glob and other spots just fill the gaps. Use items around the house and help shape hold up give different level overhangs etc and just remove after it starts securing.
My rock is completely dry when doing the build. Starts becoming unworkable within 15min or so. Always give it 24 hr dry time before doing anything crazy - like picking it up lol.
Thanks for the compliments.

Neat structure. The flat spots on the top rock of the first structure threw me off at first but it looks great as a whole.
As an aside, I would not let all that weight of that first structure set on 3 points on the glass. Disaster waiting to happen. Going to have to put it on a few small squares of egg crate or pvc or something.

Ya I was off about the flat tops at 1st also. Was about to use small 1" pieces of rock and build off of each to take away the flat but than the wife commented how much she likes them lol and we know how that goes - happy wife happy life. Glad I left them. It will definitely add different to the scape.
It is barebottom so no egg crate or pvc. Glass is 3/8" think so I think it should be okay. That would suck lol
