1 vs. 2 MP40's for Reefer 250

Wanted to get your opinions on whether I should run one or two mp40's for an SPS (acropora mainly) tank. I've noticed a lot of people only run the one but I'm worried that the sps on the far side of the tank will not be getting enough flow. I also rarely see sps dominant tank with just one pump. Thanks for you input.

I'm not familiar with the deme skins of your tank but I used a MP40 on a 6foot tank and a4 foot tank. On 4 foot tank I used a 1100gph korila on one side and mo40 on other worked great. On 6 foot I used a 2200gph korila on one side a no on other again worked great. Never used just mp40

Honestly I think two MP10 would do it. Check on Ecotech's website. On their product page for each pump they have a calculator. Input the dimensions of your tank and add two MP10 and see if the flow is good for SPS.

I agree with above. If I had the money I would rather have 2 ran on a lower speed then one full blast. More control more options.

As mentioned, it's allot easier to dial down than not having enough to add more. If your budget permits, I would go with 2 MP-40s, allot on sale on this forum, one on each side or on the back glass for back to front flow, for random flow which is what you want for your SPS corals. Also eliminates dead spots.

I'm curious, I have two MP40's on my reefer 250 controlled via an Apex Jr. I have mine dialed to 20% which I hear is the minimum output via the controller. I still see some of my stylo's and birds nest polyps swashing around like crazy. They are super extended so I guess they don't dislike it, but how much flow is too much considering I'm set at a minimum?
