100 Gallon "L" Shape Help So Many Holes????

Hello everyone. I recently purchased a 100g "L" shape and need some help/clarification on plumbing. As you can see from my pictures there are 8 holes drilled into this tank. I dont understand why in the world there is so many drilled but I need help deciding what should be plugged versus what should be used for return/overflows.

I have a total of (4) 1" bulkhead holes on the back and (2) 1/2" bulkheads. covering the back panel.

In addition (1) 1" Bulkhead on the front panel which for obvious reasons im going to plug.

Finally a monster 2" drain hole which im assuming goes to the sump area.

Can anyone make any sense out of this? I got the tank for a steal so I could not pass up the opportunity. Check out the pics and let me know some ideas/thoughts. Im plannign on doing mostly softies with limited SPS. Also (2) MP40's on each end of the tank.

For the life of me I cant figure out why there would be a fitting on the front glass. This might be why you got such a good price?

Can’t wait till you start that up , but looking at how they have it setup looks like they had a close loop going on with the huge fitting and the typical drain and return on the back walls.

Question is, how do you wanna set it up? I would close up the bottom unless you wanna do a close-loop ( hide it with rock work)

Add overflow box for safety and run separate pumps for returns.

Is there really a hole in the front of the tank?

I thought the same thing a closed loop. Moving forward I’m thinking of plugging all but 2 of the 1” for overflows and using the 2 1/2” for return nozzles. I’m guessing I’m probably going to plug that huge drain...

I’m not exactly sure I wanted to bounce it off you all to see the pros/cons

Big concern is flow I would keep 2-3 as drain so depending on the drain 1400- 2100 gph Drainage But have four for return one on each end and in the center corner have 2 pointing out to help with the corner ( possible dead spot)

Unless you are doing a close-loop get rid of the bottom and you are plugging the hole in the front?

What power heads are you gonna do?

Yeah I believe that’s a very possible solution. That massive drain is just goofy looking. Yes I am planning on plugging that front panel bulkhead.

Mp40s one on each end should do the trick.

How big is the sump? What’s the measurements of the tank?

I dont have a sump plan at the moment.
I’m thinking 50 gallon. I have had luck with Jeff’s lifereef CFL3 on my 125g.

5’ long each side 14” wide 14” tall.
