i want a blue throat trigger and a dog face puffer, my tank meets the min requirments for it, i had to fallow it so i want to stock it slowly and qt each fish properly. if i get both of those fish are the good together and what else could i add? budget isnt really a issue tank runs uv sterilization good bio filter octo 130 and im building a to size refugium before i stock also. any ideas help im also not to sure at what point to stop adding fish, any rule of thumb for that? i hear everything from 1 inch per gallon to 1 inch per 5 gallons and im assuming it also has to do with the species being kept. but stocking ideas please i dont want to deal with coral so thats not a issue and i want bigger fish with a doable but challenging aspect to keeping them, i enjoy the challenge. all advice is helpful this forum gives the best advice so far.

Might want to check on the requirements of a dog faced puffer. 100 gallons might be small. They get really big.

1” per gallon is freshwater. I have heard 1” to 5, but it all depends on load. Puffers and triggers really add a lot of nutrients as they are dirty eaters. I have a thin lined dog face, porcupine, marbles cat shark, panther grouper, clown grouper, red volitan lion fish, and a sunset wrasse in a 160. I have to be on top of it to keep nutrients at safe levels. Change at least 40g week. Also carbon dose, Algea scrubber, RSK900 skimmer and an FX6 canister filter.

So be ready for a lot of work if going heavy predator.

Picasso trigger might be a bit better since it needs a bit smaller tank, so what if I do that and a dog face puffer with a fox face rabbit fish and a snowflake eel and a flame angel. Does that seem over stocked? The water changes etc arnt a issue

Picasso trigger May at some point turn homicidal. Some say no problems, I had one take out several fish and it wasn’t even big yet. Safest triggers are blue jaw, pink tail, niger, and I think black.

My bad on the dog face, I thought they got as big as a Mappa or a Stars and Stripes.

That stocking list isn’t too bad. I like the fish. Snowflake won’t be a problem, just make sure your tank is tightly covered. You could consider a tang to replace the trigger? I love the triggers, but my wife won’t let me have another because of the damage done by ones we had before.
