100 gallons Acros Tank

Find a way to add the refugium into my sump.
Cut the normal acrylic tank into half.

With the xr15 radion, this can even be a frag tank!

The feed source gonna be the T split from main drain.

Question: what will be the best method for a silent, safe drain for this refugium? Please help me![emoji848][emoji848][emoji848]

That's kind of interesting your refugium idea. Hmmm. I wonder if that would be cool for extra area in mine...nice following. [emoji1]

You could drill a hole in the bottom an add a valve for your drain.

Fantastic rockscape..I will follow with interest the evolution of the reef; What settings will you use with the radion?

Update: Diatom outbreak! Does it mean it's the ending stage of the cycling?

Add a couple snails. I haven't test for any number, but They all alive--->good! [emoji28]

Question: I turn on the skimmer the first time today. I can't stop the overflow no matter what setting I am on. The sump level right now is 10". The recommended level for this skimmer is 9~11".

Anyone know why? I suspect the glue/putty/cement/silicon... i uses on the scape make it gone crazy. [emoji848]

Thanks. Gonna use the same schedule as my 45 gallons. AB+

I would suspect you're right. When I used Two Little Fishies epoxy, it took almost two weeks for my skimmer to get back to normal.

Yes, this is a true assumption. Everything will pass and he will work normally, I would put a cup and let the air drop as much as possible.

It's probably all the bacteria you seeded the tank with that's making your skimmer go nutty. [emoji13]

I would try raising the skimmer an inch, my Nyos 160 was like that and I couldn't balance it until I raised it.

I second that. These skimmer are very water depth sensitive. The less, the better.
But besides that, one of the best skimmers I have ever had.

Yeah, but if you dose a decent amount of bacteria, turn the skimmer off like you should, it really won't matter what height the skimmer is set at as the bacteria will make the skimmer go nuty. Water change via the skimmer is needed at that point. [emoji1]

Not sure what bacteria are making a skimmer go nuts.
If it is a new one it will need time to run in. Leaving it without the cup till it is stabilised is the way to go.

The skimmer still acting crazy despite the water lever has lowered to the minimum possible.
But I notice today, on the side of the skimmer has a cap that cover a hole on the skimmer body (why did they drill hole on the skimmer body?!), I unplugged the cap and let more water out, it starts to come down.
Is it the way this skimmer work, you have to unplug the cap on the side?

The refugium is up and running. As you can see, there will be no light leak into the sump ---> no nuisance algae, coralline algae grow in the sump.

Two drain. The main drain (3/4") drain from the bottom of the refug, the emergency (1/2") on the side in case chaeto clogged the main drain.
It feed by the main tank drain water 1" with a valve to limited the flow.

Also add some fishes yesterday.[emoji4]

Why don't you open the valve on the skimmer all the way, then slowly close it until you find a level that produce skim but not over flow. If you follow the recommended water height you'll have overflow because of the bonding agent you use on your rock.

Take the cup off the skimmer and let it overflow. It's either the skimmer break in or like you said the glue and cement used on your rocks. It should settle out in a few days
