Just got back from Afghanistan and I've had my sad experiment of a tank for three years now. Lucky a family members was able to keep the tank alive while I was gone, though the corals have lost some luster due to reduced water changes. The livestock/coral (Mandarin Goby for 1.5 yrs 29gal, LPS, soft and some sps etc..) does great but the setup is not impressive and piecemeal. SO now its time to get legit. I have 1k to spend, this is the plan, no rush, but more cash will be hard to negotiate :P.

Already own:

1. Light 1 x 150 MH with 4 x T5.
2. Drilled 40 breeder and 40 breeder for fuge.
3. ATO
4 2 Koralia pumps
5. GFO Reactor

What I think I need
- Custom built stand and canopy = 300
- SWC cone skimmer w/ pump = 275
- 2 new heaters = 100
- Plumbing = 100
- Reefkeeper 350

I've learned that a great tank is one with very less work hence the reefkeeper but I'm sure I'm forgeting some very useful stuff. BTW this will be primarily a LPS and Soft display with a few easy SPS colonies.

Well.... You won't need a chiller!!
You may want to look into a used Reefkeeper here in the dry goods for sale dept. or elsewhere?
Looks like a reasonable list.

Thanks for serving!! We appreciate it!!

i assume you are thinking 2 heaters one for the fuge and one for the tank.......i would think that one in the fuge would be sufficient ...i only run one and it does fine....being in alaska you may want the second one as a back up and welcome home !!!!!

Welcome home!! I would say go with a Neptune controller as opposed to a ReefKeeper for a few reasons. The Neptune's are a little bit less money. I run the ReefKeeper Elite on my 300 gallon system and it's been giving me a bunch of problems lately. Also, the CSR's over there aren't exactly the best help. In fact, they were kind of rude.

2 heaters for fail redundancy. I'll take a look at dry goods, thanks for the tips! Sounds like I've got the most everything covered, now it's time to go shopping. Any links for a Neptune package? Laptop/email compatible?

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I'm almost positive Neptune just came out with a software for their Apex controllers. Compatible with android or iOS software.
