1000 gallon build

What dimensions are you planning to go with and what kind of bracing at the top?

Are you building it yourself or having it done? If self, have you ever built an acrylic tank/what size(s)? You are looking at several thousand dollars worth of acrylic and probably need a forklift to lift the tank once complete.

Hey everyone I am getting ready to build a 1000 gallon aquarium. In your opinion what would be the proper acrylic thickness for the tank?
If it's 100 ft long and 50 ft wide, and .33 inches deep you will have 1000 gal. Saran wrap will be thick enough.

Itll be an 8 foot in length, 4 foot tall and 4 foot in width. I have built 300 to 6oo gallon acrylic tanks. I run an aquarium business so I want to build something bigger just for me to set up a giant reef.

The Build wont start until probably mid december but it will be one of my best and probably my favorite! I just want to make sure everything is in line so I dont mess it up after spending thousands into the system!

I have built a few acrylic tanks in the past 5 years. The largest @ 310 gal.
I would use nothing less than 1 1/4 '' and would feel better at 1 1/2''.
The 4' height is going to be the main factor.

Yeah that is what I was thinking. We have a tank in the Marine Lab here at the university that is 700 gallons and it is 3 1/2 feet high and has acrylic that is only 3/4 of an inch thick.

I will Post Blue Prints and Possible filtration setup for the aquarium in December!

Will be following this

Why not make it longer say 10ft and 5ft wide?
The Acrylic is a bit more expensive and I want to keep it around 950 to 1000 gallons. Its a really good size reefing tank for a powerful ecosystem to develop and thrive in. If I had the money I would make it a little bigger but I have to save some for filtration, sumps, skimmers, and all the electronical gadgets that monitor water parameters and alarm systems.
