1000G Puffer Display

Haha I know. I lived in Bergen for 5 years. It's a nice place besides the weather

This is what a cyanide free net caught diodon eydouxii / pelagic porcupine puffer looks like!

He just took the trip from the Philippines where he was collected by RVS and is now with Bit Of Blue in Manchester where he will rest and go through quarantine before continuing his journey to me! Excited doesn't come close!

Oh man, that's awesome. I just read an article about that blue guy the other day. Talk about a rare fish in aquaria. Congrats, totally stoked for you!

Managed to get a couple more hours in on the tank today and completed the frame for the big black surround that will go around the display.

I am alway missing the progress updates.

That is a nice look puffer, all happy and now getting fat.

That's a beauty Mark.

I've got the next best thing. The guys where he's at now are great, getting him fed up the next two weeks.

I will be great to see him swimming around the tank tank for sure.

Mark, how did you go about getting this fish reserved for you? Did you order straight through RVS? Also, what did you pay if you don't mind me asking?

I know the guy that owns Bit of Blue the shop that just brought it into Europe. He is heavily involved in the cyanide free program and was just over at RVS with a net training program. He knows my build and that I'm puffer mad! My wife reads this thread so until he's in my tank lets just say he cost a little more than a normal porky!

Best thing is they live away from the reefs, are much more active than the normal porky (Holocanthus) and grow much smaller

My porky only comes out in the evening with all blues on. Kinda strange, but he loves to be hand fed and have a back scratch. Good news is he hasn't ate any corals thus far.

When do you feed? You can "train" them to come out during the day but I've always found them to be quite lazy. My golden and stars stripes were much more active.

My wife feeds around 9 or 10 in the morning and I feed around 4 when I get home in the afternoons. I typically hand feed my fuzzy dwarf every other evening. My puffer doesn't come out when I feed other times. So usually when he's out at night with the blues on is when I feed him a few chunks of LRS Chunky, frozen krill, or frozen clams on a half shell.
