I'm in the planning stages of putting together a build for a 100 gallon system, trying to get a feel for everything I'll need.
Main goals of this system is to grow out higher end frags, just keeping fish and inverts for the clean up. I'd like the tank to run quietly and look good. Longer term goals are automation in the form of testing, auto water changes, auto feeding and of course auto top-off. Apex and Hydros are pretty interesting systems, but those things can come a little later.
I like the low-profile sleek look of the Waterbox Frag tanks, but it seems the sump doesn't support a roller filter without modding it and I wonder if there is an easier way to put a roller in there.
I'm choosing things like the Dalua skimmer because it's said to run very quiet. Also interested to know how much it would cost to add a RO/DI system for the whole house with a splitter to fill up my own salt mixing buckets on demand.
What else am I missing or not thinking of?
Gear
Placement
I've been told I should have the tank I spend the most time in and that'd be my office.
This area is about 10' from wall to wall. I'm thinking I could move this plant and cabinet to another room, raise the picture up and have plenty of space for a 4' wide tank.
I am a little concerned about the carpet, but I've been told it's not a deal breaker lol
