105 Cubish Leather/LPS Tank

have you seen kessil's dual 60g split tank? Maybe itll give you some ideas?

I did, thanks. I just keep going back and forth on if I want the two 60's or the 30/60 (or even something else). I need PVC and a bigger hole saw, so I think I'll call it a day on the stand and work on some other stuff. Since it's snowing now I might as well get a list for tomorrow so I only have one trip.

So moved frame into position, got the 30 plumbed into the temporary sump. I'll change up the underneath once I get the 60 plumbed into it. I think I'll keep it easy and just run two different pumps to each tank.

Setting back up my little 6gal nano today as well.

Fear not though! The 75 is being put to good use!:

So brilliant me, I break the bulkhead on the 30 cube while trying to fix the drain. Thankfully I've got more. Never seem to get ahead.

Picked up a new sump today, and started the re-plumbing. Of course I need some more pvc I didn't pick up the first time. Also need to re-bleach some live rock and the 30 cube. The 60 cube should be up hopefully tonight/tomorrow.

Minor setback, you got this. What’s your plan for the stand skin? I’m trying to decide how to wrap my steel stand now.
I think I'm going to go shiplap style pine. The house has that along the wall behind and adjacent to it, so it should help to blend it in. Once I get the the plumbing set, I'll pull everything out and paint the inside (probably whatever light color I have in the garage honestly). Then I'll worry about the skinning.

Waiting on Amazon to deliver the new pump today for the 60. Hoping to get it plumbed and then leak test. I picked up some marco rock cement, so I think I'll try and play with that a little bit tonight to glue some rock together.

Brief update:

Got the stuff from Amazon, started working with some Marco Cement to work on aquascape. Kind of have an idea in mind, so once I commit to the layout I like, I'll start cementing it.

With the change in temps/seasons, motivation is dropping like a rock. Add in the 22 new baby chicks/ducks I'm taking care of (plus the other chickens I've got outside) some days I just want to not do anything in the free time I have.

I've got every single thing I need for the tanks (lights/skimmer/sump/pumps/wave makers/heaters/rock/salt/etc), just am struggling to want to put it together.

What pump did specify as the return pump?

When I started out back in the 90's I was a Mag or bust guy. After having too many rust out in a year or two I switched to Taam Rio's in the early 2000's. I've never used anything else. Sure they can fail like everything else, but I'd rather buy two Taam's for the price of one Mag, and the two will last longer, and use less power.

I picked up a 1400 for the 30 Cube (roughly 400ish at zero head, 200ish at 3' (which it will be the height). I've got a 700 GPH high head Taam as back up to run both if need be, and I'll be using a 500ish for the 60 cube. All said and done I think I've got 120-125 in those three pumps. I've had the 700 and 500gph pumps for nearly four years (not all running constantly, maybe two out of the four).

Turnover should be roughly 6-7 times for the 30 cube, roughly 8-9 for the 60. Debating about a skimmer (I've got a SCA 160G skimmer I can plop in) but I will be using a 18 watt UV in the sump. I'm on well water, and even with ro/di, without macro algae I get random algae blooms.

Since I won't have the 75 for the sump, I might make the 30 cube the refugium. Still debating that.

Thanks!

Couple more things I forgot. I think I'm going halide on the 30 cube. Also painting the stand tonight too. Might have to fill some gaps first. Got a light for under the stand as well.

Oh and some other tanks managed to find a home in there too
