Is 1050 GPH too much for a 20 gallon long reef? I would be keeping softies and some LPS. I think it is but I might as well ask :p

A lot of LPS don't like too much flow. Softies can tolerate high flow but IME most prefer moderate to slightly above moderate.

I would say 1020 is a bit much

A general rule of thumb is 30x your tank volume. In your case, about 600 gph.

Your tank will have different flow patterns throughout it. Just position softies/LPS where they are not directly in front of a power head or a return line.

That's what I thought. Thank you!!

I think it may depend on what that flow is from?

A 200 gph return pump and a couple 400 gph propeller type powerheads doesn't seem like it would be excessive.
