Woke up this morning to find my BTA sucked into the powerhead of my 10g Nano. Looks like it’s almost completely destroyed and the water in the tank is a milky white color.....

I know a large water change is imminent. Is there anything else that I can do???? It’ll be another 24 hours before I can have water ready for the change. I have 2 small clowns, another BTA and a large fire shrimp currently in the tank.

Side note: my other BTA got sucked into the powerhead yesterday too but we were able to catch it in time. Weird how they both got caught in their in the same day?!?!

Most grocery stores have water machines where 5G is around $1.50 and I’ve used it in the past. My local glacier machine was around 3 tds

+1 for a powerhead guard.

I would also head right away to a LFS and pick up some water rather than waiting. I would remove all that you can of the BTA that got creamed.... and do a couple of sizable water changes. With such a small tank... things can get funky pretty quick. I would go buy 20 plus gallons of premixed salt water from a LFS and start by doing 2.5 gal changes... daily for a few days.

I know... I am sure this is overkill.... but this should help stave off a crash and kill the rest of the tanks inhabitants. I also wouldn't wait.....

Apply a nylon screen around the powerhead and secure with nylon tie strap. In addition, run some carbon and do a 15-20% water change
