Hello everyone,

I'm very new to this and I am just starting a 29g tank. has only water LS some LR and some dry rock in it now. I am hoping to see the cycle begin any day now!! and I can't wait to get my first fish! Anyways, I figure I'll need a QT? and seeing as Petco is having their awesome sale right now it'd be a good time to acquire a cheap tank. So would a 10g be large enough to quarantine the occasional fish and maybe a few corals much later down the road? thank you for any suggestions, anything and everything is appreciated!!

OK awesome! .... and am I correct in thinking that I do not want any LR/LS in this tank? only maybe a couple pieces of PVC for a hiding place or two?

Correct, no sand or rock, or at least be willing to throw out the sand and rock if a fish dies/gets sick/treatment is used. Something to keep in mind, if you use medications in the QT, it can not be used for corals thereafter as corals are very sensitive to fish medications/copper. But this is not to say you can never medicate a fish, you just do it with bathes/dips in a separate container.
Here is a couple of threads we have on QT tanks right now. Also the book Mr SaltwaterTank put out on QTing is really great and answers a lot of questions you did not realize you had.
