10gallon quarantine Tank

Hey Brian I would check out amazon. They all do the same thing. No need for a 400$ refrac. And the one I bought years ago is still kicking at 40$!

Thanks.I have the basic $20 Hydrometer. Amazon has refractometer at the $40 price range ?

I will !. & thanks for all the help . Im 3-4 months new to this. Ive found 3 little white snails and I took them out right away!. Are those the pests your referring to? Does that mean my tanks cycled also ?

You don't want rock/sand in QT, as that will absorb (and leach back out) medications such as copper making it difficult to maintain a stable concentration. But absorption is minimal with something like a sponge in a HOB. And you'd be amazed by the large quantity of nitrifying bacteria a porous sponge is able to hold. Really makes for an effective bio-filter to help break down ammonia.

That $50 Marine Depot refractometer mentioned above is the one I was using before I got this one from Amazon. I really liked it; it was easier to read. But I dropped it on the floor and before I could order a replacement, my wife had already ordered that cheaper one off Amazon (slick). It takes a little getting used to - I think the numbers/lines are smaller on it - but it works perfectly fine.
