So finally here it is... The week following our swap I brought a used 110 gallon reef ready tank (48x18x30).... Then the build began...

Here's a few pictures of the tank the way I received it, as you can tell some clean-up was required.

Here's the tank cleaned up (a lot of vinegar and elbow grease), unfortunately I left a couple of scratches in the front of the tank.

Here's a couple of pictures of the back of the tank taped up for paint, I decided not to paint around the corner where the overflow is located.

It's about time.

It was then that I decided to search as many threads as I could and redo the plumbing. Was starting of going the easy route with all flex tube but decided not to after reading a couple horror stories of leaks and floods.

Here's a couple of pictures of the finished plumbing.

Here's the return plumbing, the return pump is an EcoPlus 1267, then to a Aqua UV 25 watt UV sterilizer into a Georg Wye Check valve to prevent any back siphoning into the sump.

Still trying to find a way to quiet the humm of the return pump, any suggestions?

Here's the quick and simple drain pipe, with a "Maggie Muffler" to quiet the drain.

I slowly started collecting equipment. The Equipment list is as follows:

Lights:
2- 250 watt metal halide 14k Phoenix powered by ARO ballast
2- 54 watt Geissman Blue+ T5's powered by a Workhorse 7 ballast
8- LED moonlights controlled by the Reef Keeper MLC
Housed in a GlassCages canopy

Controller:
Reef Keeper Lite Plus, with two PC4's, one SL1, and MLC, PH probe, Temp probe

Skimmer:
EuroReef CS8-2 with a Sedera 5000 pump

Reactor:
BRS Dual Reactor. Chamber one has ROWAphos, Chamber two has Rox .8 Carbon.

Rocks:
Started with 100 pounds of Dry Marco rocks, probably ended up using 60 pounds, this is probably the first aquascape that I've done that I am proud of.

Pumps:
4 Koralia 1400 powerheads plugged into a RedSea Wavemaster Pro to randomize flow, would love to one day upgrade to two MP40's.

Substrate:
100 pounds of Carib Sea Arag-Live West Carribean Reef sand, its very fine.

Return pump:
EcoPlus 1267, with a Flow accelerator

Sump:
30 gallon GlassCages sump

Dosing pumps:
JBJ ATO with a ten gallon AtomicReef top off container (will be mixing in Kalk once its needed), with a Tom's AquaLifter pump
Two BRS dosing pumps for Calc and Alk will be controlled by the Reef Keeper and I will be using BRS two-part

RO/DI:
Four Stage 75 GPD BRS RO/DI

Heater:
Eheim Jager 300 watt, controlled by the RKL

Salt:
Red Sea Salt

I think that's it...

Here's the lighting inside the canopy, this is the first time I ever retroed lights before, I am sure eventually I will convert to LED's.

Here's some pictures of the Aquascaping, I was real impressed with this MarcoRocks.

This is the right side of the tank looking to the left side.

Here's the left side of the tank (overflow side) looking towards the right side.

None of the full tank shots I took came out very well, I will try a get a good one tomorrow.

I am cycling this tank with Dr. Tim's Ammonium Chloride Solution and I am taking ammonia readings daily.

The will probably quiet down when it breaks in (slimes up)

I'm hoping that's the case. If not can anyone suggest a foam or padding I could put underneath the pump to quiet it down?

I can't wait to see what kind of aqua scaping you are doing with that tank. You can do some really cool scaping!

Lookin' forward to seeing the build!!

Ive got something similar to mouse pad material that I was going to use and never did, if you want some, you are welcome to it.

Looking good so far, digging your plumbing too.

The aquascape photos not showing up for me :/

Let me retry those.

Lookin' forward to seeing the build!!

Thanks

I may take you up on that offer. Thanks it took quite a few trips to and from the Home Depot.

Looking good. I like the plumbing. I also have a 110. I love the height

I do too, wish it had the depth of the 120's though. I am just glad I am not short. LOL. I am glad the plumbing came out good considering it was the first time I had ever used PVC for anything.
