I just installed a 110-sss in 7.75" of water. I noticed the specs for the skimmer is 9 watts but I'm getting a consistent 17 watts. Is that normal for the skimmer? I want to make sure all is good before I set up Apex energy monitoring.

Thanks

17watts is an odd reading. Was this tested in saltwater with the venturi attached? Are you testing with a Kill-a-watt device? If so can you tell me the amperage that it is drawing and its powerfactor?

@Jeremy@CoralVue I'm getting the reading from my Apex. The amp draw is .01 and the watts runs for 17-19. Here is a screenshot of the power monitoring.

Do you have a kill-a-watt you can test with? Just to make sure the reading you are getting from your apex is correct?

Yeah, that is a mistake on the watts advertisement. There are also a few other skimmers that draw double the wattage noted. Like the curve 5 I had before. It’s either they are testing at 60v and not 120v.

I checked it with a kill-a-watt and got a different reading than the Apex.

Kill-a-watt readings
Volts 120
Amps 0.24
Watts 9

Apex Power Monitor
Volts 120
Amps 0.1
Watts 17
