So, I've already made quite a bit of progress on this build, but I wanted to document it as it progressed so I'm going to try and write this as if it's all happening in real time. I'm looking forward to getting some feedback from the group on the decisions I've made and will be making so feel free to chime in.

Here's the really boring long introduction:
In the first week of March last year, my company offered me a position in Lakeland, FL. That's a 10+ hour drive from Greenville, SC where I was living at the time. I accepted and had to move all within a matter of a week and a half. I decided at the time that I would setup a new tank in Florida at a rental house and then ship my livestock to myself (had lots of nice SPS) so I didn't have to start over. I pre-sold my custom 30" cube that I designed myself and set out to start a new system.

I was crunched on time so I bought the only rimless tank and stand I could find in time. It was a Deep Blue 75 gallon rimless on a Marineland Monterey Stand. I bought rock from Tampa Bay Saltwater because they were nearby and I set the thing up.

The LFS I hired in Greenville to pack and ship my livestock to me 2 weeks later did an abysmal job and nearly all the corals and quite a few of my fish died. The rock from Tampa Bay Saltwater wasn't the prettiest stuff I'd had. I don't want to get into all the details, but I was disappointed. I didn't really like the new tank and all my favorite livestock was gone. I neglected the tank and things went downhill from there.

Fast forward a year. My lease is expiring and I know the area well enough to know where I want to live. I close on a house last month and began some renovations. I decided to use the move to upgrade to a total new tank that I might enjoy a bit more and spend some quality time with...

Time was crunched again. I didn't want to move the old tank and set it back up and then build a whole new tank. I had a two week window.

I put my better half on "phone-duty" and had her call around looking for what tanks people had in stock. I scoured forums and craigslist.

Living Reef of Orlando had a Reef Savvy in stock. It was 60" x 24" x 18". My "ideal" dimensions were 60" x 24" x 20". This was pretty stinking close.

Living Reef also had a connection to get a metal stand ordered for the tank. I do woodwork so I prefer metal stands for ease of maintenance, with wood panels that magnet over them.

The order was placed.

Here are a couple of shots I received from Edrey at Living Reef showing the ghost overflow and a mock-up of the stand.
