Am I overdoing it with my ro unit? 150tds in 2tds after ro 0 after do.

30 micron
5 micron
1 micron
5 micron carbon
1 micron carbon
.6 micron carbon
2 ro membranes
4 di single bed blue, single purple, mixed blue, mixed purple (brs)

I'e got 60 psi in, after booter 80-85 psi through both membrains. Producing about 7-8 gal an hour. 20171216_204353.jpg

I'd say that's a little overkill especially with only 150 TDS coming in... but to each there own. I have a 4 stage with 257 in and 0-1 out of my RO into my single DI. I'd drop the extra micron and carbon filters and go with 1 of each, maybe two carbon filters if you'd like to cut back. Nothing wrong with extra DI stages I'm probably going to be adding another to my set up

Excessive in the sense of you could probably get the same 0 TDS with a lot less, but it's not gonna hurt anything having all that extra IMO. Just a lot more different filter types to change when they do finally exhaust. I use a lot of stages due to terrible incoming TDS, but a lot less filter and canister variety than you do.

I produce about 1,000 gal RODI a week and I only use:

1 - 1 micron sediment
3 - BRS Universal 1 micron carbon blocks
3 - 75GPD DOW filmtec RO membranes in triple staging arrangement
2 - Mixed bed color changing DI resin

I get 350-450 TDS incoming, 3TDS after the RO membranes, and 0 TDS after the first stage of DI.

No booster pump, but I get 60 psi across the 3 membranes which puts out about 280-320 gallons per day in the triple staged arrangement depending on temp and prefilter health etc.

150 isn't that bad. The main reason for carbon blocks is to remove odor and chemicals from the water source, more importantly chlorine and chloramines. Does your local water company use chloramines?

How would hook up more than one membrane? Through all filters then through first membrane and output through second?

There are two ways to hook up a second RO membrane, parallel or in series. Parallel you would use a Y fitting and split the line after your sediment/carbon filter and run a line to each RO. series you would plumb it the normal way but run your waste line from the first RO membrane into the second membrane. Parallel will produce twice as much RO but will also produce twice as much waste water, running it in series will double your production and cut your waste in half. This will also increase the TDS going through your DI filters so it will speed up the exhaustion of your resin. If you have less than roughly 300 TDS in (search BRS vids on this) it's worth it to run in series. More than that you will be depleting your DI very vast and it's not as cost effective...

Mine runs about 250

Seems a little excessive but hey, if it works it works. I love getting new gear so the more stages the better.

My own is a little simpler. We get between 275 and 375 TDS here in Southern Ontario.

5 micron sediment
5 micron carbon
1 micron carbon
2x 75 GPD Dow RO membranes in series
2 stage mixed bed DI

I get 5-6 TDS out of the RO and 0 out of my DI stages. We have a ton of CO2 in our water so I burn through DI resin pretty quickly unfortunately. I've thought about putting together a degassing barrel but it's just too much work. I'd much rather just turn a valve once and turn it off when my storage barrel is full.
