I'm wanting to use a 10 gallon aquarium to quarantine a few frags before putting them in a 120g. I've got an old T5 fixture that fits a 12" bulb. A friend found it on an old 15g aquarium in storage and gave it to me. Is there anywhere to find a new bulb for this fixture? The one in it works but I'm sure needs replaced. Also, would a single 12" bulb keep coral alive for a 74 day quarantine?

I've already searched and found two bulbs that emit UV. They're both for reptiles but should suffice. The color won't be all that pleasant but should supply ample nutrition. Check amazon first.

Thanks for the help! I was worrying that I wouldn't be able to provide enough light, but sounds like you all aren't too concerned about that and think it will be enough. The bulb in it currently works, but I have no idea how old it is or how much it's been used. Would u all replace the bulb?

Yes. And be careful that the light isn't exposed to water. I bought the light fixture at Wallys and ordered the bulb from amazon. The light itself is designed for under cabinet but not for water.

Do you have a glass lid?

Alright, I'll replace the bulb. No lid on the aquarium, but the fixture has a plastic cover on the bottom side

You think it's a T8? This bulb is a smaller diameter than the other T8s that I have

But do you think T8s would suffice for the quarantine period? I have two new T8 bulbs in another fixture that I could use, I didn't think they would be suitable for coral tho. Bear with me, I'm very new to this.

You can measure it. The T5 will be 5/8", the T8 will be 8/8" or 1". The T8 will put out more light than the T5. My first tank was lit with T8 6500's. If you can find a reflector you will increase your par significantly.
