Okay so I maybe making a deal to upgrade my 70 cube to a 120 reef ready I currently have to 165 watt chinese leds is anybody else running this setup and do you have the optics in or optics out also where can I buy wider angle optics if I don't wanna run them wide open thanks

I run 9 over a 300DD tank run in 3 strips of 3 units. These have had some LED's swapped out to make them more of a full spectrum unit. I run 60 degree optics on the front 3 and back 3 lights on all colors except UV, red & greens. I run no optics on the center 3 due to these being added last as I started the tank with just 6 fixtures. The LED's are mounted in a custom made aluminum rack about 8-10" over the water surface and the rack can be raised or lowered as needed.

You should be able to find any degree optics you need through an ebay search.

We have Evergrow IT2040's, We are upgrading to the 120RR corner over flow. We aer thinking of either going ATI t5 8bulb, or buying 2 new fixtures witch will run us another 600$ from ocean revive. But we will see when that time comes witch it in a few weeks.

forgot to mention we are upgrading from a 65GRR but we are letting the new 120G cycle till july so everything will be great and a fresh start with no errors.

I have two 120w units over my 120 gal. tank. I have softies only and my whites are at about 50% and blues at 70%. so far all my coral are doing fine.

Ok so I pulled my optics out I'm tuned at 100 par on the sand what par readings are people shooting for with led

I like to see around 200 PAR on the sandbed for clams and anemones.

My Red Carpet gets about 240 PAR for 5 hours a day and has doubled in size over the last couple years.

Sanjay has said 100 PAR with the caveat that higher light corals be placed higher in the tank. If you want higher light corals lower optics help a lot.

Y light has epistar leds I believe pretty much the same a bridglux came with 60 degree optics I feel like 80 or 90 would be better not sure if 120 would be any different then none at all

Ok so I found all the optics I've could e en want heres my thoughts 90 degree on all the whites and blues vs the old 60 degree and 120 degree on the colors and uv opinions?

The quality of optics vary greatly.

Its not uncommon to find wider higher quality ones offer greater PAR than narrower ones.

To avoid spotlighting you generally want the wider optics on the tertiary LEDs like the Red and UV.

What can I use to test for PAR or how should I do it to find out because I'm using LEDs I'm using. Bright blue royal blue n uvs
