Those are acanthophyllia aka donut coral & meat coral. The big ones across the bottom are not Acans are they? Mine don't look like that! Haha
If someone has time to mention what kinda coral are in there that would be awesome. I'm still trying to learn what things look like as they get bigger.
Wow awesome tank and yes you a full blown reefaholic. Only cure is a bigger tank
Look above. Most of the corals on his sand bed are acanthophyllia, donut coral, or meat coral. What's the green and orange coral that looks like a volcano on the left of the tank on the sand bed, I can't remember the name of the species?
Amazing tank by the way !
I am officially dubbing you the Scoly KING! That is one very nice collection. I have a few masters myself in a tank with Acans and Chalice - nice because they all need to be eat and at least you KNOW you have to be on your a game with respect to water maintenance. Lots of people find them very hard to keep but that hasn't been my experience. What is you feeding and water change schedule on that tank?i think im switching from acantophyllia to scolies! ive been giving away my acantophyllia and begun collecting scolies!!!

haha thanks alot! i am using a t5 light what about u? i dont know if lighting actually plays a role for these scolies and acans but they seem to grow faster in my t5 tank rather than my frag tank which uses an ai prime.I am officially dubbing you the Scoly KING! I'm running T5s as well - 2 x Blue+ 2 x True Actinic over a 20. Puts the par on the bottom of the tank at 90 so that's about right. I too started with LEDs, a Hydra 52 HD left over from another build. The corals all looked fine but I started noticing a few oddities here and there with my chalice (probably from hot spots) and replaced it with a 4 bulb Wavepoint fixture. I just scored some diffusers for a bunch of Radion Gen4 Pros that I have and I MAY try one with a diffuser on the tank. Its doing so well now though that I may just leave it as is. Only issue with the Wavepoint fixture is its just a tad too close to the water and the tanking is heating up a little towards the end of the light cycle.haha thanks alot! i am using a t5 light what about u? i dont know if lighting actually plays a role for these scolies and acans but they seem to grow faster in my t5 tank rather than my frag tank which uses an ai prime.
i feed my scolies maybe 3 times a week with nyos lps power pellets. i keep my water at 24.5 celcius with alk arnd 7.5-8.5 constantly. phosphate is at 0.00 all the time. i havent had any scolies or acan dying at all! i actually even managed to heal a few injured scolies back to its full coloration !
i recently installed an ati powermodule for my frag tank!
