120 gallon "gift"

Hello, I've been given a "gift" of a 120 gallon tank. No equipment. I currently have a 32 gal nano cube with everything built in. So for all intents & purposes I will need everything. Can someone give me a quick rundown of what I would need for this 120g tank?
Ive looked at several things online and most have same but different answers.

This entirely depends on your style of reefing. If it were mine some of ghe basics would be:

Lights
WaveMaker
Sump with refugium
Skimmer
Refugium lighting
Return pump
Heaters
Auto top off
Sand, rock, lots of goodies (fish, coral, anemones)

Couple of questions before we can give recommendations on specific equipment.

1. Do you plan to run a sump and is the tank already drilled?

2. Will the sump (if you have one) go in the stand, or will you be able to house it in a "fish room"?

3. What type of corals do yo plan to keep or will this be a fish only?

4. What type of budget do you have for setting this up?

5. How handy are you with DIY type of projects?

The answers to these questions will help get specific recommendations for flow, return pump (if running a sump) protein skimmer, heaters, lighting, etc.

Congrats on the new tank. You should start a build thread to show off and document this tank taking shape.

Doesn't look like its drilled. Just a rectangle glass box. Lol

Whatever I get will need to go un stand. I don't have a fish room. Lol

I have a 32 gal biocube with 4 fish, an anenome & 1 mushroom that i just bought. Along with clean up crew. I would like to get more fish & corals. But corals may come later.

4. What type of budget do you have for setting this up?
Cheap as possible. Looking at pre owned or diy where ever I can

5. How handy are you with DIY type of projects?
Ive gotten pretty good & if i can't build it, i know someone who can.

looks like a fair price, and you could probably haggle for a lower price, if it all works.
don't know that they are sized correctly for a 120g though.

This is the truth. The glass box is often the cheap part of the hobby.

since the tank is not drilled I would suggest that you do a little research to find out if the back pane of the tank is tempered. If it is not tempered, you could drill the tank yourself and install an overflow that goes through the back panel such as a synergy or EMS overflow. That will be a whole lot safer and more reliable than a HOB overflow.

If the back pane is tempered however, you cannot drill it. Attempting to go do will result in a shattered glass pane.

Nice tank but will cost you dearly to run as a reef tank. You will need hang on compnents (filter/skimmer/reactor- Better off buying tank and sump
