Hey there, just starting a journal for the new 120 gallon i got.
Its a used 6 month old Marineland basic 48x24x24 that the owner drilled for a bean animal setup. It came with the stand and canopy as well as a 40 gallon breed sump which is awesome but could only fit the tank in my suv.
It cost me 200 bucks and im going back for the stand and other stuff.
Looks like a great tank once i got it cleans up a bit but still needs some good scraping as i had to remove the overflow to get the cutting board/starboard out, which i dont want to use.
I plan to make this a simple easy corals and fun fish.
I will be transferring my fish from my 40 gallon breeder setup as well.
heres some pics of the tank.

more to come!!

Looking good so far.
I assume you used vinegar to clean it all off?
Will you re install the overflow or are you going to use a Ghost overflow?

Thanks for the welcome!

After i cleaned and could see the bottom i freeeaked out thinking i saw a crack in the bottom glass but it turned out to be a little excess silicon LOLOLOL
yea i used 50/50 water and vinegar, my favorite cleaning product.

Not sure what a ghost overflow actually means but what i really wanted was to just make or buy a new box the same size but has teeth near the top like most overflows.
What does a ghost overflow do?

the previous owner had a bean animal setup and gave me pics of what it looked like to go off of.
I still gotta read or watch some more stuff on this type of drain system.

not sure what kind of pvc it is. the previous owner used it. seems he did it right.
i thought the piping looked great when he sent those pictures. cant wait to get it running

The plumbing looks like the previous owner heated up and custom bent rigid PVC pipe to save on buying a lot of fittings for a smoother, cooler look. An old reefer trick there. Cap one end, fill the pipe with sand, cap the other end and heat it up in the oven until it is pliable. Then bend to the shape you want. Don't see that done too much anymore.

You are beyond a Ghost Overflow since your tank is already drilled. The Ghost style is a very low profile box inside the tank and a larger box mounted on the outside of the tank. They are connected with two large bulkheads through the back glass. You already have three holes drilled, so I would carry on with what you are doing.

awesome Fin thanks for the info on the plumping. yea i didnt think it was flex pvc cause its rigid. The previous owner said he has been in the business and hobby for 20 years. I think it does look extremely clean. Very happy with everything i got from the guy

got the stand and sump. gonna water test. it is holding water everywhere.
i ordered a toothed overflow from Melev. waiting on that to come.

the sump may need another baffle because i like putting my skimmer in my filter sock area and then having a refugium.

the stand is awesome and level. even has a fan for cooling and a electronic wire wall!
