Here I am starting a build thread for one of my two new tanks. I am not sure how good I will be at maintaining a build thread since I have a tendency to not take pictures in mid project, but I will definitely be posting before and after shots (and hopefully at least a few "in between" shots) as we get this off the ground.

My plan is to set this up as a predator reef, so I will be having some big mean fish and some very forgiving corals. I'll probably also be needing to add quite a bit of filtration before it's all done. I hope to get by with as little as possible, but I'm already planning to possibly use two skimmers, two reactors and a fuge.

So without further waiting, here's the first pic...which is just of the tank itself on the naked stand prior to any real work being done (other than moving this beast down into the basement)

Time for an update. Here is the rock all just thrown in there. I tried to aquascape it, but sand went everywhere so I was flying blind...result wasn't impressive.

Using 2 MP40s for flow. My first time with vortechs. :clap2:

Here's the skimmer in sump. It's doing its job well, but I'm going to add another one to supplement.

Here are two of my inhabitants. I didn't think these guys would be friends when I first added them, but they're doing great! :-)

I'll upload more later...need to redo the rock work and finish the stand.

Here's the rock work after I redid it. Believe it or not, I actually took some of the rock out of what was in there before. This is about half to two thirds tonga used for formations. I like the look for a predator tank. :-)

This is a FTS of my very neglected predator tank...I tried to make it a predator reef, but my trigger ate everything I would put in there.

I probably will be closing this thread before too long because I am planning to sell my predators, and redo the tank as a nem propagation tank. :)

Here's the only type of clean up crew that I have found can stand against the trigger. :xd:

This guy actually has lots of personality for an invert. :)

Well, the predator tank is now empty of predators...I hope to get the whole thing torn down in the next few days so I can rebuild for the nem propagation tank. I had to completely disassemble the rock work to get the eel out. Now the rock on the right will stay in for the new project (I'll have to scape it later) and the rock on the left is for sale.

Here are a couple of pics.
