120 Gallon Salty Condo

I've got some new corals coming in tomorrow and I plan to move some things around and dip some current corals at that time. I'll be sure to post new photos!

Awesome man. Good luck with the trigger. Want one but I don't know that I could put it in a reef tank after watching how they just blow through a silverside.

Thanks! Yeah, it's a risk. But it's so small and supposedly one of the "nicer" more reef safe of the triggers so we will see. I think the way it eats I should have no problem keeping it well fed and hopefully away from the fire shrimp and other small fish. I even saw it eating seaweed today from the algae clip. LOL

So far the trigger is fitting in well and eating like a champ. I am really happy with the addition of him in my tank. Still working on getting the tang to eat. I see it eating from time to time but it's not very much. I pretty much have to make everything into a mush otherwise it is scared of anything that comes near it.

I've added a photo of the ricordias and the ORA spongodes that I got. I also added a photo of all the red planarian flat worms that came out of my frogspawn after dipping it.

The corals that came in yesterday were pretty beat up from shipping so they are in another club members tank for now trying to nurse them back to health. Will see if I can go pick them up in a few weeks or if we will be asking for replacements/refunds.

On a side note, I am waiting to hear back but I'm pretty sure I just purchased a TEK-Light Elite 8 bulb T5 fixture!!!! Super excited about that; hope he replies today.

It will be here this week! Now I just need to figure out hanging options. My plan is to run 6 bulbs of the 8 but we'll see how it looks with all 8.

No reason not to run all 8 to start, you will just have to run them for only a few hours and work your way up over a few weeks.

Good point. Plus the bulbs are 7 months old so it's not like I'll be blasting the corals with 8 brand new bulbs. It's due to arrive Friday but I'll need some time to figure out how to hang this thing from a vaulted ceiling. I'll be getting in touch with Bill to check out his floating canopy design and construction.

How do you like your Koralia wavemaker? I'm thinking about getting the 4-way. Should be all the wavemaking I'll need.

I actually like them a lot. I like the fact that they ramp up and down to make the waves rather than turning on and off. Plus, with having 2 separate 2-channel boxes I have quite a bit of options for how to create random flow. They are easy to take apart and clean as well. I've had no issues with them at all.

Exactly. Luckily from what I've been told they do not hurt the coral, they are just a pest!

I didn't mount the coral to the rock I put it on as I plan to dip it again in another week or so.

how's mr trigger doing?

We've named him Count, as in Count Dracula because he's such a beast when it comes to eating meat! LOL I've seen him tear pieces of seaweed from the veggie clip as well so he's an all around good eater.

He's doing awesome man, I'm really glad I got to keep him in the MTRC family. Anytime you want to come by and check him out just holla.

Love to watch him swim around and he is super friendly. Him and the Foxface will definitely battle (not fight) for the most attention.

Tek Elite 8 Bulb T5

So I think I got a pretty good deal on a 7 month old TEK-Light Elite 8 Bulb T5 fixture for the Salty Condo. It arrived this morning and appears to be in great shape. I'll have to verify the operation of it after work today.

The plan is to hang it from the ceiling and potentially add a floating canopy around it but we will see how it looks on it's own.

It came well packaged and wrapped in a lot of bubble wrap inside

I hear ya.

Need suggestions on bulbs. I'm thinking ATI bulbs for sure just don't know which ones... I'd like to be around the 14k mark.
