Thought I would post this up finally. What started out as a house remodel, turned into a in wall fish tank build.

The beginning

walls be fallin down

turned into this

Not going into all the pics of the whole thing, but the kitchen got redone as did the dining room at the same time. Basically now I have a open floor plan throughout the entire first floor.
Now onto the build

120 drilled for a bean style overflow. Sumps will be two 40 breeder, one being a low flow fuge that will gravity drain into the other return sump. Equipment is starting to be put together and I have a bashsea 8-24 skimmer and the nitrate reactor.

So here is my first question in this long drawn out process.

See how I stacked the reactor? The tank below is for the ato, then the reactor, then I want to stack the skimmer above it. Any reason seen for NOT doing this?

I don't see any reason you shouldn't do it. As long as you can easily reach everything and can remove it for cleaning without tearing apart the whole room you should be fine.

I was thinking along those lines. These can be used external, so no water issues there.

You'll have to watch how high you do actually stack the skimmer, as they do require usually of around 7-9" of water depth, in or out of the sump.

Wouldn't this be determined by the pump going to the skimmer? Plans are a panworld 250 for main pump, this should be enough to push water to the skimmer, reactor, and through the tank I would think.

and overflow finished

Overflow in

Here is our other project and why it is taking so long, once again.

Well I am slowly getting this together. I added rock the other day to the tank for a first go around on aqua scaping. Added more rock to the sump, and some sand as well. I have the return pump now, panworld 250 ps. Now just to plumb it all up. It has been slow going, but still going none the less.

this isn't true for this skimmer. bashsea becketts can be used completely external.

True. I plan to run it externally, so I don't see how it could be in water at that point.

I did have to rethink my stacking of items though, just not enough room like I had thought.

Benny, you have a bashsea, how is it working out for you? Any other bashsea equipment you running?

yeah! i have two, both work excellently, though i just emptied one of my big systems to list for sale and the skimmer will be included in that sale. that will leave me with just the one on my other big system (they are both the same skimmer, custom 8-36). i don't have any other bashsea equipment at the moment, but do plan to replace my nextreef "monster" media reactor with a pair of standalone bashsea reactors on that system. nothing against nextreef - the monster is just a bit cumbersome to work with being a single unit dual chamber design.

Drilled my finally hole into the sump for external pump. Also plumbed in the external pump.
