120 mixed reef. suggstions wanted please.

how many gallons is your skimmer rated for? part of the issue seems you like you've got more nutrients going into your tank then you do coming out of your tank.

Might want to check TDS of the final RO/DI water. I have color changing media, but the TDS always rises before the color change.

The skimmer is rated for up to 198 gallons. TDS output meter says 0 ppm, inlet is 14 ppm. I feed maybe 8 small pellets of pelleted food and a square of Nori that is about 1.25" daily. 1 tsp of Phytoplex twice a week. Once every other week I will put in 1/2 a cube frozen of Mysis shrimp. I have A Foxface, Cardinal fish, and a Yellow wrass. Nutrient buildup is likely due to lack of skimmer and ineffective skimmer before that. I wonder how long it will take this skimmer to clean it up. I used a power head to blow the rocks out a little this morning. Maybe need to do this more often.

Should I start dosing vinegar. I read Randy's article and think this may help me reduce nitrates until I can get some GFO

Thanks for everyone's advice.! It is greatly appreciated. How can I get more of the macro to grow in my refugium? It does not seem to grow well despite 20 hours of light per day with the PAR38 LED bulb.

I ordered Salifert Nitrate and Phosphate tests yesterday along with some GFO

Tested water this morning with my seachem tests. Ca 500, mg 1437, Kh 3 mEq

Still looking for advice on dosing vinegar? ??

I stopped adding 2 part for now.

Tested Calcium today with SeaChem test and it was about 490. Tested KH with my Seachem test and Total alkalinity was 2.6 meq and Borate was about 0.8. According to Randy's article I need to add some baking soda. my pH is fluctuating from 8.03 during the day to 7.8 in morning when lights are off. Mixed 3 tsp of Baking soda with water and set it up to drip slowly with an IV bag. Will retest again tomorrow and see how things go.

Also, changed my carbon on Saturday and by Sunday the Chili coral was inflating and polyps coming out.

No one has commented on if I should dose vinegar or not.

Calcium about 475 ppm, KH 3 mEq/L. pH in a.m. 8.03 so that is less swing. Added 1.5 tsp of Baking soda this morning. Tank is looking better. I am going to scrape the glass and then I will repost a new picture. Test kits on truck for delivery today.

Phosphate between .1 and .25
Nitrate read 0
Stuck phosban in overflow from fuge until I can buy another phosban reactor.

So my cousin came over yesterday (he's a reefer too) and told me that this green fern-like stuff is Bryopsis. Anyone have experience using Kent Marine's Tech-M?

Update: after 7 years in the hobby, I finally have my tank in a happy place. I have done battle with a lot of pests. Thanks for all the help along the way. Peroxide and CUC kicked the bryopsis. Yellow wrasse ate the planeria.
