Hey all! I want to upgrade to a 120 from a 55 (with a 20 gallon fuge so really 75 gallons). My apartment is 4 years old with concrete floors. Our complex said only 30 gallons is what they want because our water heater is 30 gallons. They never asked a professional, just what they "feel comfortable with". So, does anyone have a 120 or larger on a upper level apartment floor? Should I be ok? I know the 30 gallon thing is a load of crap since my tank is 75 gallons+ with no issues. Thanks!

I live on second story and i've filled my 90 gallon up a few times, my floors are also concrete. This place was built in 06'. I'm a big chicken though and the tank has been sitting in the apartment for like 4 months empty lol. I imagine if you have a stand that evenly distributes the weight it may work out fine. It still scares the crap out of me though!

They are concrete with steel. I am scared now knowing it is going to be a ton on our floor. Just want to hear if anyone has done this successfully.

I know that in construction wooden floor joists are engineered to hold some ungodly amount of weight per square foot. I was told the number once but forgot but I do know it is a LOT. So with your concrete floor I think you are fine, just think about parking garages and skyscrapers and what they hold...

120 on concrete floors, no problem at all! You would not think anything about it if there were 6 or more guys setting on a sectional couch watching football...

Just remember that accidents happen and tanks sometimes leak. Better make sure your renters insurance covers water damage to the apartment and the occupants below. With your sump, you are looking at probably 150 gals of water potentially on the floor in a disaster.

im on a second floor with wood floors and I have a 120, been there several months, hope nothing falls through. Have 160 lbs of rock also in it with bout the same in sand. You should have nothing to worry about bro.

Prob you might have is if you have stairs make sure you have enough room for turns going up and going down when you move out of the apt.

Thanks! Tank is RR and we have lots of room to bring it upstairs. It's just not going to be fun taking it up stairs. Lol
