120 peninsula build

It's been a while since an update. New corals seem to be doing well for the most part. Two don't look very psyched right now. I think because I had them in flow areas that the didn't like. I moved them again this weekend to areas that were similar to flow and lighting that they seemed to like in the frag rack. Got a ph meter given to me by a very generous reefer here, unfortunately the probe needs replacing. I have to get that ordered up! Also got a lux meter with my current lighting intensity and schedule I'm getting like 35k at the waterline. Tried the zip lock bag test with flow in the tank and reading were much lower. I may try again with no flow this weekend and see what I get. I have a bunch of bubble algae popping up so I got some vibrant. It arrived today and I did my first dose. Unfortunately I dosed 10 times the recommended amount like an idiot. Hopefully work gets out early tomorrow and I can do a large water change. I'm still debating this and may just see what happens. None of the corals seem to be phased currently. Trying to get some fish ordered from a local maintenance company but am getting the run around. I'm waiting for a scale so I can run CP in my QT and just get some fish from the LFS. I've also been toying with the idea of going to a softie tank if this batch of SPS for some reason does not survive. That is all for now.

Gotta say so far Vibrant is a really good product. It has totally begun wiping out my bubble algae with just one dose . 10x recommended doseing error, but it's really working. It also wiped out my Chaeto, over the course of a week. Chaeto went from nice dark green to a translucent wilted ball. Pretty amazing stuff!

Got some new salt today and this weekend will officially not be using AquaForest products in this tank. Switched to Fritz RPM see how this shakes out. I have a pink spot goby in QT right now using CP as a prophylactic treatment. Had two Anthias in there also but CP kills them so they died. I didn't know this. Kind of bummed but got them at a reduced price at my LFS as they were already beat up. Gonna do a large water change this weekend. I'm also (I know, I know) going to do one final change to the aquascape. That's all for now. I will post up some photos when it's done.

You did a fantastic job on the stand/wall. I love the aquascape, as well.

I hope the troubles subside, and I will enjoy seeing the updates. I am building a 5'x2'x2' peninsula tank, and this is a solid inspiration. (Build thread to come)

Thanks Husker! Glad you've enjoyed my journey. Stay tuned for picks, water is still clearing up!

35 gallon WC, and without further ado the new aquascape. I did not change the back island but the front is now awesome in my opinion. I love it!

Wow that looks good. Great job on the build:)

This is an aquascape that, I think, works very well for a peninsula tank. I think with a peninsula you have the opportunity to make the tank look different from each side. Your little valleys from the rocks on the side away from the wall does that nicely.

Currently have a pink spotted goby in QT, just about a week and a half in with CP. Just got a call from my LFS my fish are in, I had them order me an Ornate Leopard Wrasse and 3 Chalk Bass. Gonna be picking them up on Saturday and into QT they go! I'm gonna put the bass in with the goby and have them go through CP. The wrasse will go through TTM. I may get a couple more Anthias to replace the two I killed using CP on them with the Goby. I didn't know but Anthias and CP don't mix well. If they have any more and I can afford it the will do TTM with the wrasse!

Beautiful wrasse..tank too.
I know what you mean about Maine being a hard place to be a reefer. I live about 80 miles north of Cultivated Reefs home, just a step into Canada...lol
Have to rely on the internet but do have to travel to Boston once a month so I do get a chance to hit a few hotspots I`ve found on the way..
