I’m sold on a 120g as my upgrade. I just don’t know which one I want to purchase. The stand I have already made up was for my 57 DB RR but I made the stand bigger just Incase of an upgrade and I’m glad I did bc it’ll fit a 48x24 perfectly. Minus the cut out holes for RR. That’s my dilemma. I’ll show ya a couple pics of my stand to show ya what I’m talking about and you guys let me know what you would do if this was your situation.

The left side is blocked out from the sump area for equipment and wiring. The cut out on the top was for the center overflow on my 57g. I’ve looked at 3 tanks so far. The Deep Blue non-RR(no experience with drilling), the DB RR(but that’s a dual overflow in both corners) and the SCA 120 rimless with center overflow. Seems like the SCA tank is my best option but it’s also like $450 more than the deep blue non RR.

Tell me what you guys think! I need help making a decision!!

Thanks!!

Got my 120 from Planet Aquariums. I think the price on the tank alone was $700 or $800. This was with glass tops. Mine is centered but don't see why they couldn't set it off center for you if that's what you wanted.

Thanks I just emailed them actually! How deep is the overflow it comes with? Does it take away from the middle of the tank? That’s the one thing I didn’t like about my 57g. The overflow was huge and the tank was only 18” deep. I think it stuck out about 11” or so

I think it takes up about 5.5"X11" wide. I think.

Here is a pic of the tank at the LFS when I picked it up.

I love my SCA, I think it's the best deal going on a low iron glass tank, and while stock ones do come w/ the standard center overflow, they also do custom drilling to accomidate different overflows like the shadow, which would be my choice if I bought new today, but I'm pretty happy w/ mine still as a stock center overflow.
They have great customer service as well.

I have a Planet Aquarium 120 with center overflow. To me it seams like it takes up a lot of space. I was at WWC a few months ago. They had a Planet Aquarium 120 with a Shadow type overflow. I have been wanting to get another 120. If I do I will definitely get one with the overflow going out the back.

I’m debating on having it drilled for a shadow type overflow or if I should just leave the standard overflow and maybe just cut the whole bigger on my stand.

Well, the one thing I would love to change on my tank is that overflow, after I got my tank those synergy's came out, and I was kicking myself in the butt over that, and I'm guessing you may do same.

Not only do the ghosts take up way less space in display, but the bean animal drains pretty much the cats meow, your tank would be completely silent if that matters to you.

I may actually buy a new SCA just for this reason, and after having my SCA about 4 years now I have no hesitation in going that route again.

Do you know if SCA would drill the holes for me and ship the tank that way? This way I could just pop an overflow on myself?

Absolutely they would, and usually Steve, one of the two owners is really good about contacting and dealing w/ you personally.
They have outstanding customer service in that way, and I don't use that word outstanding very often.

They have a fb page many contact them on, and there is a HUGE thread at that other site on SCA owners, I'm pretty sure it's ok to post that here, I'll check for it, tons of info
