120 Reseal

I was given 120 reefready glass tank. Old with silicone in it. I've cut out the corners so far. My question is do I need to remove the bottom silicone? If I do will the silicone adhere to the overflow boxes? I bought GE I 100% silicone. I would appreciate any advise on this thanks everyone.

If you want to do it right then you have to take the bottom silicone off along with the overflows. Make sure you get all the silicone residue off before you apply the new silicone. Razor blades and acetone is what I used to do my last reseal. As for the GE I silicone, some people use it with no issues.

You are going to regret the tape. When I did my 75 when I went to remove the tape it made a mess. Would have just been easier to lay a bead and wipe it with the good ole finger

The parts that I can see I really want crisp lines. But inside the overflow boxes and bottom not so much. It will be tango competition to seal and remove tape together though.

Ok what about this Dap stuff? Can use this. I'd like to put some the same color as the overflow boxes on them, to help blend in better. Maybe all around. The black seams look nice.

honestly, you should have left them off and used bulkheads with pvc.

Nope, black pvc and seal the other side or use it as Closed loop system.

That sounds like a really good idea. Hide the pvc in the rockwork. Hopefully nothing is wrong with my seal job. But there is this the way to go. Thank you for the idea.

Well, finally got some help moving the tank to the garage. So I could water test. Well, the seals held. BUT??? The seal on the overflow boxes have small leaks. Soooo? I'm starting over.
