so im in the process of building a 120 mixed reef, build thread coming soon. looking for some feed back on the stocking list im going to go with for fish

gold stripe maroon (already have)
lightning maroon
mccrokers flasher wrasse male (already have)
mccrokers flasher wrasse female x2
4 designer clowns
2x BTA for each group of clows

yellow tang (was told)
purple tang
gem tang (possibly, seriously considering)
all put in at the same time

cuban hogfish (was told)
RG x3
3x blotched anthias (?)
another group of 3 wrasses, not sure what type, (M 2F)
and probably a couple impulse buys

Looks good!
The only thing that worries me is having three pairs of clownfish. I know it can be done, but there still is the possibility of them fighting each other.

I would not do the wrasse trios, if you want multiple wrasses do singles of different fairy or flasher wrasses. Fairy and flasher wrasse females turn to males over time and 2 males of the same species will probably not work in a 120.
Also, ocellaris and percula ("designer") clownfish will not mix well with an established marroon.

Not sure what RG stands for (royal gramma?)

Additionally, if you want multiple tangs I would try to pick 2 (or 3, if you really insist although I'd stick with 2) of different genus. Like a kole tang and a purple tang.

yes RG is royal Gramma and the maroons wont be established, the fish i currently have are in my nano and would be moved into the big tank at teh same time i get the other clowns

yeah ive seen it done before which is what game me the idea they segregated themselves off on separate sides of the tank in 2 harems

To be honest I still probably wouldn't recommend it, maroons are just so much more aggressive and get a lot bigger. I have never seen it work long term (1+ years) without a casualty. Even just with 2 pairs of ocellaris there are a lot of problems, let along 2 pairs of ocellaris and a pair of maroons.

Yep, I'm sure that if you take care in making sure they get along, you will be fine. I was just making sure you knew the possibility of aggression.

yeah the maroon aggression thing almost stopped be from getting the gold strip but it was too cool looking to pass up. if it gets too aggressive itll be banished to the 30 gallon coral QT tank that will replace my current nano. so far the only thing in my tank that regrets me getting the maroon is my hammer coral

Question... are you adding all those fish 20+... or askng about options from those?

I ask because I have a Red Sea Reefer 450 with 10 and wondering how many I can add if, if any.

Sorry don't mean to hijack your thread.

really thinking of adding all those fish, my 10 gallon is quite stable with a load of 4 fish and running a with a biowheel, so a tank thats 12x bigger with better filteration should be able to support 6 to 8 times as many fish. at least thats the logic....
