Hey guys, I have a 120 long and am getting a 120 cube. When transferring should I use new sand? I would like to use whatever I could to save money but don't want to cause a spike in the long run. I will also be adding about 50 lbs of new rock to the existing rock. Would I need to let everything cycle or should I be ok to transfer everything over ASAP? Thanks for the help, shane

Kinda tough not to keep a tank from a mini cycle after a move. But you can use your exsisting sand, I'd rinse it out really well first, then you'd be ok with it. The Rock is whats going to put you over the edge, that will get you into a small cycle using so much at one time. If you could cycle it first then add it you'd be better off, or throw in 10-15lbs at a time, then you'd be ok with that also.
But if you threw everything together all at once, you'd see a slight cycle go on.

+1 on that.

If you do decide to use all the rock at once just consider doing water changes every few days until the cycle is over, nothing huge tho large water changes will just keep it going try like 10% every two days. But the better u watch it and listen to ur tank with how often to change water the less stress the corals will under go. Hope that made sence

Good luck
