Hi all

This may be a dumb question, but does anyone have a dual cornerflow tank? I have a 120g I bought used and each weir has a 1" and 3/4" bulkhead.

Mine also has 2 knobs on the inside of each overflow (connected to the plastic part) and I'm not sure what they are there for. I have it plumbed and running (need to modify it and make it quieter) but can't get the water to rise up to the black trim on the front of the tank. Wasn't sure if those knobs were for a piece I was missing? Maybe to raise the skimming height of the tank? This is my first dual overflow reef tank, and it's really got me stumped why I can't get the water up to behind the top trim in this one.

Thanks for any help

I won't be able to until tomorrow. If anyone knows what I'm talking about by the sound of it, please chime in. Otherwise I will definitely take some pictures tomorrow am.

No problem , I'm familiar with this type of tank but before I offer any advice I want to make sure we are on the same page. I wouldn't want to steer you in the wrong direction. [emoji4]

Thank you sir. Much appreciated.

While I'm a new member here, I've been in the hobby for awhile. But my biggest tank was a single overflow 90g. Those are so simple!

I saw that once,it's to raise the height of the water line .like the over flow goes up a little higher.

Well then it seems I am missing those pieces that went in there. Hopefully there is something that can be devised to raise it up to higher. I really don't want to see a water line at the top of my tank!

Pics coming tomorrow.

I think they changed it to a full syphon or herbie instead of a dorso by the sounds of it. Does it look like this?

I can (and likely will) plumb it in the Herbie style. Also am thinking of putting a balance pipe between the 2 overflow boxes (TBD on that). I've got it plumbed as Durso currently and the crashing into the sump sucks. Bad.

There was no plumbing connected when I bought it, tank had been dry for a bit. Just not sure how to raise the water level inside the display tank (first off), and also wondering best practices for plumbing one of these.

So it doesn't look like the above pic?

I mean there are 2 bulkheads behind an overflow box, but there was no plumbing present. I plumbed it with a Durso and hate it. Going to completely re-do it and plumb it like above. That said, the water should cascade down into the weir, but raising it with Herbie alone doesn't accomplish the skimming that I think it was designed for.

Just not sure where/if I can find those missing pieces (if there indeed ARE pieces missing). Or if water can be raised in the DT some other way I'm missing.

I am changing over to the Herbie system when I get back from traveling this weekend. Hopefully that will fix my problems.

I think (since it just got water in it) I might drain it and do the equalizing pipe behind to connect the 2 overflow boxes. I have heard that really makes it easy to tune a Herbie on a dual overflow tank. I want to do this right up front and not chase my tail on this one (like many previous tanks).

Here are the pictures of what the current state is.
