120G Rimless shallow peninsula tank

Nice catch and fix. MACguyver!

Must have been a proud moment to get the help from gabby. Always nice to have some interested and help around the house with the systems. Even if they dont get it quite right. A quick lesson usually fixes that.

I've been grooming my 17yo nephew to be ready for tank sitting when i travel :)

Updated the FTS.
The tank has 2 year as from last month.
Let's get some more stability in it to get things growing.

Some growth tips...

It was time to update the GHL Profiluc 3.1T controller.
Smart as I am, I did the firmware update without backing up the original settings first.

During the update, the complete tank shut down.
The 3 power bars that are controlled by the Profilux became inactive so all pumps/lights/... stopped working.
After the firmware was loaded I was waiting till all was gonna restart again.
It took a minute or so to realize I did something stupid and I had to program all settings again.

On each powerbar there are 6 sockets. 1 of those is not controlled by the Profilux and is always on, as long as the powerbar is connected to the electric grid.
So I have 3 sockets that can save the tank if for example the controller dies.
1 is taken by the controller itself. The 2 other have now a doser and the CaRx reactor.
Next week I will do some wire management and I will change those 2 sockets in the return pump and one power head.
Just in case.

Dead tank during firmware loading. No flow, just 2 T5's that are plugged elsewhere.

And a cellphone Topshop while I was waiting for the tank to restart... never

And if you are longer in the hobby, you will end up having a spare piece of everything.
I'm ordering new parts as we speak... just in case.

Good call, Janci

Got to admit that your first post, had me freaked out.... ;Nailbiting

Glad that you caught it in time.

Congrats on two years, your reef just keeps getting better.

:)

Like a fine wine, it’s getting better with age!

You’ve been having a rough reefing go of it lately, hopefully you’ve been able to kick back and enjoy the tank instead of fixing things at least!

Not all is doing well.
While this one is showing more and more of its purple/green combination, his neighbouring green caroliana lost most of its colours.
I hope it will pull through, but some STN has started at the bottom.
I might have to frag it to save some.

Scary stuff my friend. Although it produced some unique looks at your tank under daylight that u snuck in during the chaos. I cant imagine the feeling.

Hope the sps make it through, if not that's going to be a ton of frags!

All will be fine. It took just some time and brain training to remember the last settings.

Really nice collection. How hard is it to get acro in the UAE?

The glory days of the monthly Indonesian shipments are over. Luckily I still have some of them since last years ban.
Nowadays we receive Australian shipments, but these come with big colonies that are sold for a too high price (too high for my liking).
There are a few people with gorgeous tanks here that also have great corals, many brought from US (WWC, JF, BC,...), but they are keeping their treasures hidden and hardly share.

The home frag business is not that popular, but it is something I have been thinking about for a while now.
Taking down the tank and setting up a shallow frag tank in the same spot, same length/width, single live rock in the tank, rest of the live rock in the sump.
I have all the equipment, just need to change the display glass work

I have a few friends in the UAE.. would love to visit them in Dubai for a bucket list trip the to city in the sky.

It's funny how u described the possibly change to a frag tank. My friend and I are tossing around the same exact idea.

I love those white spots... slowly growing.

Hairy as....

Hairy is also quite dominant. The Slimer is getting tight
To take this picture I had to keep the camera in a too big angle and the porthole came out of the water.

I've got the same Green Hairy Acro that is plowing down into my Strawberry Shortcake. It's pretty aggressive, in'it?

Nice shots!
