Hi.. Wanted to post about my home office tank. I have a 125 Gallon main display. I used to have a 39 Gallon plumbed into it for a Refuge, but had the over the back overflow and it has failed 5 times so I am making it it's own tank for QT. The current set up has the 125 DT, 20 Gallon bucket with DSB, and the Sump. The lighting is 3 400 Watt MH above the DT. I recently added a new skimmer, the previous Reef Octopus skimmers' pump failed and I could not get replacement things for it. The new skimmer is a Reef Octopus Classic 150-INT.
This system was set up with 200 gallons prior but I went through a divorce and during that time and prior the tank was neglected so it was a total loss. I decided it had been enough time without a hobby that makes me happy so I decided to get back into it. It has been set up for several months, but is lacking some of the items it needs for the tank to thrive.
I have a RO/DI system on order and it should help with some water quality, our water here in North Georgia/Chatt. TN area kind of sucks.....
I also have the new Apex Wireless system coming, so that should help with some automated things down the road and timing and tracking now. It will be the first time I have had any type of system that wasn't me and post it notes or paper or memory, to help with tank care, it should be a real game changer. I want the over all tank to be fish, live rock and soft corals. I really like the way soft corals move around in the currents. I LOVE Ricodia mushrooms and will try to get some of those, they seem to be hard to get a hold of.
Like I said above the tank had been set up this second time for months, and I had an algae break out and it was the course rough algae not the wavey troll hair type. At the time I had 10 fish and some assorted cleaners. I took out my rock and gave it a bleach bath, of the 200+ lbs of live rock I took out around 175 and put the rest in the DSB tub and sump.
During this time the fish were left without any hiding places. I think that fact stressed the Yellow Eyed Tang and the Flame Angel. I lost the tang yesterday, same day I started treatment for parasites, the flame seems to be doing well today, this is day 2 of 10 days of treatment.
I had the rock cycling for a week and have since added it back into the tank and the fish seem to like having their caves and hiding nooks back.
When the tank was first set up a friend who is good at construction helped build a custom cabinet to store the tanks and such in.
I hope I can get my tank up to its former glory days or even higher....

Will be nice to have exact ph salinity measurements from the Apex.
So although this isn't a new build it is essentially a rebuild, equipment and tank stock etc.
