I have a 125 gallon saltwater setup with a 55 gallon sump. It’s not set up yet but I need ideas, I want a Dogface puffer and a Niger Trigger, I don’t want much more than that but maybe 1 or 2 other ideas?

Sounds like you want a carnivore. . . tank. Puffer and trigger, other would be a lionfish such as dwarf, fu manchu or volitan and green bird wrasse or Harlequin Tusk Assuming this is a fish only tank

I had never seen the Harlequin Tusk I just looked them up and those are cool looking. Will the Lion be okay with the trigger and puffer?

Yes and very common

This will be nice. The harlequin's teeth makes it look mean- Very docile fish
The challenge with lion is getting it to eat right away but it will.

Sounds like a great FOWLR on the horizon! 2-3 larger fish with a few smaller fish can be done (with really good filtration), but the biggest challenge with a 125 is that your width is probably 18”, right? IMO, 24” gives better room for larger fish to a) turn around, and b) get past another large fish without problems. So with 18” you just want to keep that in mind. Maybe go easy on the amount of rock— and I would definitely put the rock in the middle so there’s two lanes of swim room, and front and back in on the ends as well. Probably a Lion will pick one end of the tank and ‘hover’ there. Some large tank mates might be willing to swim past him in an 18” tank, others may not. If it were me, I might drop a large Puffer and go with a dwarf Puffer or two— like a Valentini and a Blue Spot. They would work with your Lion, Harlequin Tusk, and Tang. (Clown Tank?) A cool Saddleback Clown and maybe a large Wrasse— like a Checkerboard Wrasse. :)

So many good ideas here, my primary fish that I 100% want is the Dogface even if he has to be the only fish, with that in mind what would you suggest? Drop the lion just in case? Maybe a couple clowns like you said?

I have two 150 FOWLRs— so I have LOTS of ideas. LOL. But I think it’s great that you are putting the proper amount of thought into this, in terms of ‘number’ of fish and compatibility. I also think it’s good that you know that you definitely want a large Puffer as your showpiece. Now you can work for overall plan around that. (Which type of Puffer do you have your eye on, by the way?)

A Dogface is the one I’ve been eyeballing, a friend of mine has a Porcupine that I’m in love with but I just can’t get past the cute faces of the Dogface lol
