So I got this glass 125 gallon here and want to set it up with a coast to coast over flow just like this picture below. And do bean animal drain. I want it internal full length and the external box over to one side. I was thinking the internal make with glass and the external box made of plexiglass.

Looking for some do's and dont's. Please give me some input and if you think I'm in the right path with what I'm thinking. And what length should the minimum external box be. Thanks

I’m gonna go ahead and type what I thinking so I don’t forget. If any one else would like to feel free.

On Friday I’m gonna drill my tank out for two 2” bulkheads off set to the back left side(kinda like my first post image). Make a clear 1/4” acrylic external overflow 36”Lx8”Dx4.5”W. Bean animal drain with 1-1/2” bulkheads and 1-1/2” pvc drain pipes going down to basement sump, which is around 6’ drop depending on how high off floor sump will be. Internal C2C overflow out of 1/4” glass 5”Tx1.5”DxLength of tank . I went with abs bulkheads due to the more low profile for inside tank. I’m gonna paint the back of tank black and have the C2C clear so I can keep on eye on how it’s flowing and nothing gets in. And I’m gonna make the external clear too so I can see. Tank is gonna back up to wall so I’ll be able to see through the side on how it’s flowing. The basement sump/fish room is another story of its own. And I’ll build a built in stand/bookcase for the display tank. I’m a finish carpenter/woodworker so the stand isn’t my problem, it’s making sure I get my tank set up right.
I’m switching over to this from my 90 reef ready I just set up mid August, I don’t like it. 125 is about the same but 2’ longer. Give the fish alittle more room to swim

I drilled the glasss this evening. I hope that’s the right placement for what I’m planning

I got the internal glass coast to coast overflow done, and painted the back and one side of the tank. I’m slowly making progress

Then I’ve been thinking of ways for my basement sump setup and suddenly came across another 125 gallon for $100. I couldn’t pass it up so now time to get some glass cut for it

Time to start the stand and external overflow box and think about the plumbing
