So I have known for some time now that I was going to have to take my tank down for a few weeks. We are doing some work on the house and with the amount of paint, dust and other chemicals in addition adding tile flooring. I knew my tank was going to have to be moved. I was ok with this because I feel like I rushed a little in the begging of this tank. And now I have he chanc to start half over. My fish and coral are now being temporaryly homed in a mother colony tank hidden in the back of a lfs. So since I knew I had to move the tank. And with summer. I have been busy at work as I do heating and air. My tank was looking pretty rough.

First thing I am planning is drilling a hole for my return pump. My tank only has 1 2” over bulk head in the over flow. So previously my tank had the return come over the glass which made it difficult to have a top on tank. So I will be drilling the tank.
I also am going to paint the back black. That was a simply mistake I made when setting tank up.

Next will adding some glass bracing on the rimless tank. It seems fine but I figure allot of new tanks have the bracing so I am going to have glass cut and put it in place for piece of mind.

Next will be modifying sump. I had some over flows happen when filter sock got clogged. So I need to address that.

Then I will tackle the electronics. My goals is to run things as clean as possible. My tank recently looked like rats lived in there.

I am sure I will come up with other changes but that’s all I can think of at the moment. Will post some old tank shots and a shot of tank once I ridded it of all love stock and rock

More to follow in the coming weeks

Good luck with the restart!

Its great you are getting a chance to implement all of the things you learned from your original start up!

So i now have my rock cooking in trash can with heater and power head.
I am undecided on what to do on the Aptasia. I don’t want to kill my rock because I am planning on having the tank set back up with in 30 days. Aptasia isn’t too bad maybe 10 total that I know of. I wonder if peppermint shrimp would survive in the trash can while rocks are cooking?

Update on this.
Well I sold my tank. This build thread will be started in summer when my red sea peninsula gets here.
