I have 3 on my way home from work and a fourth about 3 miles past my house. Unfortunately most of them tend to have ich in half of their tanks so I have two "favorite" stores and it seems like their selection is lacking but healthy.

One of the petco’s near me has a really nice marine section with a friendly and knowledgeable manager as well. Not deserving of the bad reputation it has on the forums.

The reputation of "all fish from petco die" that isn't true at all.
And each store will vary due to the management.
 
One of the better stocked Petco near me is on my black list after talking with the manager. His view was "I'll happily sell the retirement home folks saltwater fish. And when they forget to feed the fish and it dies in a week I'll happily sell them a replacement." Home skillet, old people are cool, on a fixed income, and just want something to care for. They deserve respect and so does your livestock. Bye.

Like I said, I've got two decent Petco's and 2 that can be ok. Probably 50% or more of my fish came from Petco. There is a fifth one that is around 10 miles from me that has really clean tanks but super low stock. I've purchased 2 or 3 from them including the Four Spot Halichoeres Wrasse.

I have 1 fish from online and then the rest came from the 3 or 4 LFS within an hour drive of my house.

Well, ok, probably not. It was more for work reasons but we can definitely blame Petco.

I always liked petco. I could find hidden gems in the reef tanks. Most of my coral from my old system came from petco.
