Yes I have those. Same as the black just colored. No ill effects. I was told people use black as a rule only because it blends in and doesn't stand out.

Just curious if anyone knows: Acetal Copolymer should be fine for the tank, right? It's approved for drinking water so it "shouldn't" leach anything.

I wish I knew, most plastic doesn't leach. But, from what I read in small thread, my green hose can leach tin or aluminum... I either need to change them to pvc hard tubing, or just deal with them if the time comes.

But, your selection there should be safe.

You can get the drinking water safe hoses as well but they'd probably still leach with the corrosiveness of saltwater.

I remember when I first got involved in reefing. At our lfs, a lady was having issues with her tank and she didn't know why. Old steve (that was his name) told her it was her fingernail polish.

And this is why patience is key! Tested the pH today and we're up to about an 8.6. Definitely not spiking like it was, definitely slowing down. If it stays steady at 8.6 for another week or two, it'll be time for saltwater!

This might be why when new reef tanks are made, the rocks are dry and are stabilizing. They are growing through tons of phases. With already old aged rock, I don't think that goes through such dramatic changes. This is a very informative situation you are going through!

Tested alk, mag, and calcium this morning:

Alk - 7.8
Mag - 1095
Calc - 380

I need to bring up the calcium and magnesium a little but they look decent for a month and a half of running. No mass of corals yet to really deplete them either.

The bucket says
Calc 390-410
Mag 1110-1250

So my Red Gracilaria isn't doing amazing. I think it's grown some but it looks ugly and losing color. The little piece of Ulva Lactuta in the other hand has quadrupled in mass and has colored up quite a bit. I see why they say to be careful with it.

I think you can harvest feed ulva to your fish. Like nori.

Ok. I checked the pH on the rocks again and it's up over 9. Still leaching lime but it's slowing down. Two weeks ago I was getting over a 9 in about 10 hours. Now it's taking over 3 days. Drained and refilled the soaking can. Also, I'm only using about 5 gallons of water to soak about 10 lbs of rock so it's not much water.

So I was sitting at my computer this morning and glanced over at the 75 and saw movement in the overflow box. I looked a little closer and there be my stupid Algae Blenny! Well, that made his capture a whole lot easier. He's now the fourth resident (besides snails and crabs) of the 125. Welcome to your new house Frank!

More than likely, as they are both going after the same food when pecking at the rocks.

You'll need to feed the fish metro + prazi to worm them. Wrasse are notorious for having internal parasites.
