Ok no sure if I'm posting in the right place. Im doing a diy tank stand got all my measurements went to home depot got 2x4 pieces cut there. Now I'm home watching diy video as a guide. Stand is finish, but stand turned out bigger then my tank width wise. Is it still safe to use, or do I break down a start all over.

Plywood the top and should be okay. Ideally your corners of the tank should be over the vertical supports.

That's what I'm was thinking but this is my 1st time so I was not sure if I would be ok.

Honestly, I think you would be better off making the stand the correct size. Its okay if the tank sits in the middle of the sides but being over air like that would make me nervous, plywood or not.

i have never made a stand, but I work in construction.
You could put a second 2x4 and make a “sister joist” to carry the load before you put the ply wood on. So basically just doubling up the wood on those two sides.

I would ask myself if the overhang is going to bother for years to come. You can’t change it easily once it’s full.
