125g reef build

here is my first photo on R2R of my tank. its been up and running for 2 years . started out as a fish only and this past jan. i started converting it to a reef. i have a pair of flame wrasses, pair of midnight clowns, pair of bangaii cards, royal gramma, yellow assessor, and a yellow watchman goby paired with a tiger pistol shrimp. i have mostly softies, a lps frag and zoas and palys. i will gladly take any input someone may have. always looking to learn !

been starting to see the aiptasia army starting to buid up in my tank. i have added peppermint shrimp over the last week and a half and they just vanish with no sign. there is nothing in my tank that would eat them unless the tiger pistol is getting them. all my fish are peaceful and grow to about 3" max. i have a small/medium copper banded butterfly on hold at a fish store that is about an hour away from me. i have had success with a moorish idol in the past when i fed it larrys fish frenzy so i am thinking about trying it for the aiptasia. any thoughts ?

I'd wait to see if the copper band will go to town on them. Is there any way to remove the rocks from your DT to get the aptaisia off? Try to avoid injecting anything into them, 99% of the time you'll end up with new ones in other spots even if the one injected doesn't return.

some of the rocks i could remove and some would be a pain the butt. i would like to have the butterfly as a center piece fish as long as it eats the aiptasia. i am hoping since it is not an adult it would leave my corals and zoas/palys alone but i have no experience with these fish.

The ones I've had actually were model citizens but you know how that goes. I love copper bands. I'd say get the copper band and see how it goes bud.

did not get the butterfly. found my peppermint shrimp that i got on monday and he has been hanging out under a rock. not sure if i want to get more of them or get the butterfly. love the to get the butterfly and my wife says go for it so i will probably go that way. hopefully buy the weekend i will have it figured out.

ok, got the butterfly and acclimating now. looking good so far. fingers crossed.
