Don’t want my goby to jump out. Ceiling light materials from Lowe’s. Cut hole in clear cover under light. Allows heat dissipation but hopefully prevents jumping. Cut finger with Xacto blade making it. Worth it if it works!

First - welcome to R2R!!! Second - sorry about your finger. Third - egg crate is an amazing material with a ton of uses and can work well as a cover as long as you don't keep any small fish that can fit through the holes.

Welcome. Those knives are way sharp. I’m not allowed to play with those any more. I got a pair of sniper from Lowe’s and cuts the time down to nothing.

Tank looks like you’re off to a nice start. Stop by the meet and greet forum to introduce yourself if you like for a formal hello

Thank you for the big welcome! It was the clear plastic that was so hard to cut through. It’s slick and hard, and was difficult to cut without cracking it.

i joined in 2013. Had a gorgeous 40g tank. Husband was laid off and we moved to AZ so I sold tank and everything in it. Husband had a stoke 6 months after we moved to AZ, our kids were homesick too. Wound up relocating back home. Went without a tank at all for 3 years. I just missed it.

The tank is so relaxing, so happy to be back in the hobby. Thanks again!

I'm sorry to hear about the curveballs live has thrown - I understand a little about those myself. I'm glad that you have found a place where you can add a tank back into your life. I have cut a lot of egg crate and have found that "diagonal pliers" (also called "diagonal cutters") work best for me. You can typically find them at a local hardware store for between $2 & $5.
