Question for all you who have had/have rimless aquariums. So i got a 150 gallon sc aquarium. The pad it came with was cut wrong so sc aquariums said I could use a yoga mat thats closed cell. Well I was filling up the aquarium and noticed that one corner seems compressed more than the others however the tank was leveled and re checked multiple times. Ive owned rimless tanks before however never used a yoga mat. I could just be paranoid and everything is fine. You guys let me know.

I think it is fine....I would think that means the glass on the side not 100% flush with the bottom piece of glass.

I agree that something doesn't look right.

Is the tank stand level front to back and side to side?

Is it a piece of plywood that the yoga mat is sitting on?

Did you have to shim the stand to make things level?

Yes of course. I checked the stand and the tank. Everything was leveled. I even checked with two different i beams lol. I did hear back from the tank builder. He said it's normal. Thanks everyone!

It looks to be built slightly different, most large tanks I've seen the base is not floating and the front panel covers the full length, rather than joint between both side panels.

I'm not one to argue with tank builders but I find it unfortunate that they consider this "normal". The foam mat may help, but there will still be a tremendous amount of stress on the joint between the side panel and the bottom of the tank.

Trust me... I feel the same way. The only thing as of now is to just watch the seams. Make sure nothing seems different or out of place. I've seen much worse and tanks doing fine. I'm sure every tank builders level of standard is very different.

Getting back to the stand, are you sure the top is flat and straight? The stand looks a little rough in the photo. When you put a level or straight edge on it are there any gaps? I built a 5 foot long stand that ended up with a small gap at one end of the straight edge (long story). The top was not perfectly flat. I fixed it by pouring "table top" epoxy over it. The foam will certainly help but if the top of the stand isn't flat, there will be some additional stress on the tank.

To me a stand is a stand. It might not look like some people stands on the forum that could have taken months to make however I did check to make sure the top was level and flat. Well thank you for the tip. I did notice that some people do what you mentioned.

I tend to agree with you there. As long as it has a solid plywood top and is level it should be good. The foam minimizes stress from any warping or minor imperfections on the top. I still worry about the guy in the Middle East that is setting up a beautiful rimless tank on a stand that has an open top.

Not a fan of using the foam to make up for improper alignment of the glass edges, but if the tank manufacturer says its okay, you pretty much have to go with that.

You could always replace it with a thicker piece of foam for better piece of mind?

I have been hearing a lot of stuff about Sc Aquariums stands and Canopies and the quality.. Well, let me tell you - I just got my SC 150 in a few days ago and the stand and canopy are top notch quality Furniture grade material. I could not be more happy with Steve over @ SC. I got a sick deal on a custom built SC-150 that has been pre drilled for a Synergy External Overflow box that I will be installing. Here a few pixs.

10/30/17 update - Finally got my Rimless 150 up on my stand and the canopy on. Going to Float my Hydra HD 52 along with a pair of my HD Hydra Twenty Sixes along with the canopy, so you will see not be able to see any lights ones I am done.

Also, it's not quite done but here is a shot of my center pcs that will sit right in the middle of my tank from AquaRocks and store most of my Acro's, Monti's on it! Just placed an order for my 20'' External Synergy Overflow box which takes about 3-4 weeks to build.
