I've recently bought a 150g tank the dimensions are 60x24x24 I'm wondering if my fish list would be ok or a disaster waiting to happen.
-1 Purple Tang
-1 Chevron Tang
-1 Desjardini Tang
-1 Clown Trigger
-1 Pinktail Trigger
-1 Blueface Angel
-1 Dogface Puffer
-1 Harlequin Tusk
Thank you!

A few of those fish get rather large to all be together in that size tank. Personally I wouldn't keep all of those in a 150. There will be different opinions, but u must think about filtration, rock structure, etc. I'll let some others chime in as well.

Which fish do you reccomend taking out?

Each tank is different as far as the bioload it can handle.

Many of those fish can also vary as far as their temperaments.

If the filtration is up to the task, and you don't have any overly aggressive specimens, it is possible.

I would suggest ranking which fish are most important and stock accordingly, taking your time and testing your parameters often.

Do you have any plans of upgrading to a larger tank or don't mind giving some away when they get too big?

I don't plan on upgrading, I would rather take some fish off of my list than give some fish away.

I don't know a whole lot so what i say may be wrong and hopefully somebody corrects me lol. Most of liveaquarias minimum tank sizes are pretty accurate. With that said, the only fish that would work in your tank(size wise) would be the dog face puffer and harlequin tusk. All the others get fairly big and require a bigger tank(180g-300g). Footprint is more important with the tangs(I'm told at least 72" length for bigger species like you have listed). I can't really comment of compatability issues but it looks good minus the clown trigger. From what i've seen they are super aggressive, it may take some time for it to get there but when it turns its a psychopath. A bursa and blue throat trigger could go in that tank. There are some more angels that would also work in that tank. But as stated above you would have to watch for aggression and bio load issues. Please correct anything i said if i'm wrong. I'm still learning. I would wonder over to liveaquaria and look at some different fish and note the minimum tank sizes. Or you could change the plan and get a bigger tank;)

I quess where I'm getting this information is from a 125g display tank that I saw at my LFS with some of this fish that you say would be to big for my aquarium. I quess i could ask them also what they plan to do with those fish. I always look at the Live Aquaria size recommendations
,but whenever I go to my LFS they always say a smaller sized tank. I'm fairly new myself so I'm not sure either.

The minimum requirements listed are for fully grown fish. All those fish may work in your tank as juveniles but not as adults. That may be a few years, depending on rate of growth. I guess i should of clarified. That's why i asked about a planned upgrade or how you felt about giving them away. Hopefully somebody else will chime in and shed some light. If i knew how to tag somebody i would lol

I have kept alot of the fish on your list and have a few of them now in my 210. Your list is a bit over the top and a few of them will definitely outgrow that tank. Lfs always undersells tank size and stocking capacity, their business is to sell fish. If you plan to give the fish a forever home and considering the type of fish you like, I would try and find about 5 fish, and drop a few on your list now. I would keep the purple tang, dogface puffer, and harlequin tusk; I have a tusk and yellow belly dogface now. The clown trigger when he gets to 5-6" in that size tank will probably become a serial killer. I have a pinktail and they can get kind of spastic in a smaller tank and just pace the same route over and over, I think the 150 would be too small. The sailfin gets as tall as he is long and needs more length; I think the chevron does too and he and the purple tang may have issue, they can both be aggressive toward other tangs. The blueface needs a bigger tank, if you are interested in angels, look into the majestic; he stays smaller and grows slow, I have one he is very laid back.

I have seen aggressive specimens of the fish on the list, and I have seen peaceful specimens. There is potential for aggression, but it doesn't mean that there will be.

LA is a good starting point, but can be off to a degree as well. For example on LA for the blueface angel they list the minimum tank size as 220g, but the footprint for a 220 and a 180 is the same, and it's not as if the angel will need the extra height of the tank. Or for the Harlequin tusk it lists a minimum tank size as a 125g, but a 125g, while giving good swimming space side to side, is pretty narrow front to back.

I went to my LFS and asked them what they thought, and they said yeah the fish would eventually get too big for my aquarium. They also said it would take 5-6 years before that happens, but what it sounds like you guys are saying is that it will probably outgrow my tank before that? I'm also going to go onto live aquaria and try to change up my list.

Lfs is right, if you get juveniles it will take many years, I'm OK with that. We have a very vibrant aquarium culture here and I get a bidding war for one of my fish. I like raising small fish and giving them a chance. 98% of fish for the aquarium trade die in the first year and only one out ten even make it into an aquarium. So do a little tweeking to your list but do get the fish you enjoy, it will be best for both of you in the long run.

Yeah I really enjoy watching fish grow and eventually when they grow out my tank I can sell them and maybe make a profit and upgrade to a larger tank. Hey who knows? Thanks so much for all of your help!

Dont Worry about compatability it will all be ok no matter what combatability you choose. The proof is in the pudding

No two tanks are the same, and that tanks fish are not adult. Even the fish in that tank are too cramped. There is no proof in that video. It all comes down to filtration and compatibility. Remember we are trying to give the best care to the marine life we bring into our homes.

No, compatibility is quite important. There may be exceptions occasionally, but for the most part proper compatibility goes a long way toward fish health, longevity, and vitality.

Most of the fish in that video are nowhere near mature size, and in most cases aggression worsens as they grow. There are exceptions for sure, but they are just that, exceptions.
