150g Treasure Tank

Congrats on the engagement!

I'm happy you're feeling a bit better.

I have mineral mud in one tank and mud from florida pets in the other. Currently the mineral mud has been disturbed by an unseen force and i can barely see a thing in it... and nothing is clearing it up.

I love mud in tanks though and it helps alot especially since i have macro algae.

Molly fry are delicious says my sandfish. Hopefully the hawkfish was able to get a few in for its tummy.

Aiptasia is the worse. I keep "killing" mine and they keep coming back. My girlfriend wants me to kill them again before my molly spits out more babies.

So far my mud is staying put, after the initial huge cloud. I hope it helps my chaeto...the stuff was attacked by the asterinas in my tank, so the ball is much smaller than it used to be. Now it's in the sump and hopefully will grow back.

I wanted to keep the mollies and start a steady supply to my LFS, but that's proving difficult now that a full two batches have mysteriously disappeared. I agree, though...if someone got them, I hope it was the fish and not the pests.

OK, so I have decided not to add any more animals to my reef (except maybe berghia) until I have a backup power source. Can anyone recommend a suitable UPS? Chances are I will only run my return pump off it.

Looks like my black molly may be the one eating the newborns...I put her in the fry tank so the babies would be safe, but she's slimmed back down with absolutely no sign of little ones. :( That, or she's been aborting for some unknown reason. Hopefully my white female will not follow suit.

With no ich or velvet in sight, I bought a chalk basslet I've had my eye on for a few months. Unfortunately, it's a lot thinner than I realized...but I think I can fix him up. Some Prazipro for parasites, and I'll stuff it with food, too. Wish me luck, eh? I don't think I'm buying fish from this place again.

He's being quarantined with the young mollies. Oh, and I found one newer baby in the tank this evening <3

He's gone.... *sniffle* So much for a new fish to cheer me up...I'm not buying from fish and frag shack anymore unless their fish have just arrived.

Dangit, he even ate a little yesterday. TT.TT

Well, the chalk basslet's COD was most likely getting too cold that night. Who would have thought you needed a heater IN JUNE with a broken a/c. x.x There's one in there now to keep it from getting colder than 76F.

My fiancee came through again, though. She bought me a lovely little Klein's butterfly from Deep Sea Creations to replace the basslet for my birthday. It's a spunky little thing! I fed the juvy mollies I'm keeping in the quarantine some brine shrimp while the butterfly was acclimating, and it started getting...I don't know, but it was definitely interested because it could smell the food, so I dropped some in the bag. Butterfly actually ate brine shrimp while still in the bag!!! I've never seen a fish do that. Then when I put it in the tank, it didn't dive for cover, so I left the light on. It just cruised around, checking everything out and pecking at anything that looked interesting. I love this fish now XD the mollies try to stay out of its way, and it's very bold but does not bully them.

It has, however, started flashing some. While I don't see any parasites on him, that's the way I've seen ich start, so I'm treating him preemptively. Want to eliminate any issues while he's still eating well.

Deep Sea takes really good care of their fish and corals. I heartily recommend the store for either of those, though their tank setup service really isn't so great...it's located in Temecula, CA. I bought the butterfly the day after it came in, since they don't sell the fish the same day it makes it into the tanks. If you catch them while it's still in the wholesaler's bag, you can buy it first-day, but obviously you won't know if it's eating. Anyway, point is, they did not ignore illness; it just hadn't shown up yet.

This last couple of weeks has me a bit depressed. My birthday fish, a Klein's butterfly that was supposed to help me with my aiptasia, went from great (eating, calm, colored-up) to dead in the span of about 12 hours. We think it was velvet. I know it's risky to get attached before they are out of quarantine, but I adored that fish. Just before, I bought a chalk basslet, only to have it die on me during an unseasonably cold night. Now my corals have been having issues with the heat, though I'm working on correcting that issue. My nitrates are sky-high, also, though I am likewise working on that.

Not my summer.

At least I still have my darling fiancee, and to top it off she says she can get me another butterfly soon and we'll try again. I love this girl so much. She pays attention to what's important to me.

Oh, and my special baby molly's missing. I have others, but she was special :'(

An unexpected side effect of fixing my skimmer... sometimes it would run loud...but now it runs almost silently!

So my flame hawk didn't look well, and given my recent experience with fish dying suddenly, I tore apart the rock work to catch the little booger. Oddly enough, now that I'm done, I think I like the new setup better. I do wonder which rock had my nice ricordias on it...I can't seem to locate them.

I really wanted to post a new photo, but this phone is being a butt about it. I'll post it as soon as I have access to another device.

Well....
Thanks to various injuries and a need to spend more time with my darling, things have gone south. The aiptasia infestation is gone, but I don't even want to post a photo of it now.

However, my sweetheart has offered to help me with the water changes, so it should be doing better soon.

Thankfully, the fish have fared much better than the corals. They're all okay.

I hate to hear about the issues! Keep going!

Feeling a bit irritated...I wanted to do some water testing, but a few important syringes are gone ~_~ may have been swiped by a cat when I left the cabinet open to air out.

danm those cats always up to no good :( keep strong summer is almost over! i know i hate this socal heat as well its either run the risk of overheatting the tank or a larger ac bill :3 lol

Our cats really aren't a major problem (though my fingers are crossed that Cosmo doesn't eat my tank cords.)

Looks like I'll be sticking to soft corals for the time being. I'm glad there's a forgiving class of these animals. If any of you know of some more colorful varieties of these, please let me know!

zoas and mushrooms super colorful and are softies
lol you have your cats n i have my daughter she likes to turn my return pump either all the way on low or all the way max gph so i gotta make sure to lock it
