Do anyone have experience on the REFLEXX NANO HQ 150W metal halide? Would 3 of these coupled with 4 39W t5 with 4 Radions xr15 be a good combination for a 200 gallon tank?

the 150w halide output is very low. I have one over my nano with blue reefbrites and I see a max par around 250w and maybe 130 on the bottom. I like the idea of blending them in with the XR-15's, I just don't think the 150w halide output is worth the hassle. I'd sooner use more led like 4-xr-30 along with the t5.........or step up the halide to 250w if you really want worthwhile par and color blending.

Using the 3-5 watt per gallon rule, you would need 600 watts to 1000 watts for a 200 gallon tank

I think the 150 watters could work over a shallow tank, but 250 is the way to go. I really like the look of that pendant though, would look great over a small tank.

I mean 4- xr30 instead of the xr-15’s. If you have the 15’s I would use 8 of them.

What I meant was that 4 xr30 have less power consumption then 4 xr15 and 3 150w metal halides. And you said that the halides produced a low output but they consume more power.
 
Agreed with the above. Unless it’s a shallower tank, I don’t think the 150s will hit it. 250s should be work great
The tank is only 18 inches high so I am looking for more even coverage instead of very high output units. As I would need to mount the high powered units very high losing a lot off output rather then getting some smaller units like the 150w metal halides

You should be okay with 150s on that shallow. I ran 2 150s on my 65 (24” deep) and just couldn’t keep SPS at the bottom (softies and LPS no problem).

And now that I look closer, that’s a Giesemann fixture. Giesemann is known for being high quality, so I would have no issue running that over an 18” tank.


That said, supplementing with XR 15s and depending on how high you mount everything, 3 should be okay, but I might look into 4 of them if space allows and maybe 3 XR 30s (not sure if the 15s will provide good coverage on a 2 foot wide tank). With the XR 30s you may not even need to run the T5s (which saves some on energy and bulb replacements).
 
My current tank is 135 gal 72”x18”x25.5” SPS tank.

I have used:

3 175 watt halides supplemented with T5 and LED.

2 250 watt halides with T5 and LED.

Only T5 and LED.

All LED (on previous tanks).

Currently running
3 250 watt halides with T5 and LED

You can run any combination you want, as long as total coverage and par are good. Acropora in particular will respond to different types of light.
 
I run 3x150w mh(on Hamilton reflectors) on my 80g shallow tank (16'') and it is just perfect. Supplement with Orphek bars for day and evening sunrise/sunset. You should be good with the Reeflex! I had Giesemann before on a bigger tank and loved them, I should have keep that stuff, almost impossible to find anymore. Good luck!
